The Only Decision Now Is The New Subaru Braterra EV Pickup Color You Want

The 2023 Subaru Solterra all-electric compact SUV is coming this year, but Subaru needs a Braterra pickup. Check out a new rendering and why Subaru needs to build it.

The all-electric market is not just heating up. It's getting hot. The 2023 Subaru Solterra is already sold out this year, and another reason why Subaru of America (SOA) needs another new EV for its U.S. customers. What would be better than a new compact pickup? Check out the renderings of a new 2024 Subaru Braterra renderings from our friend Mike Nichoson who designed the new Subaru pickup for us.

If Subaru of America asks Subaru Corporation to build the new 2024 Subaru Braterra pickup, buyers will line up to get one. All-electric is the future, and the all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra EV compact SUV arrives next month in the U.S., and Subaru should go back to its roots of offering a small sport utility pickup.

What would be better for Subaru Corporation than to bring back the Brat or Baja pickup in an all-electric platform? We've talked about an Ascent-based midsize pickup, a Crosstrek-based subcompact pickup, but what about a new Solterra-based Brat all-electric small pickup?

We recently wrote about how the Ford Maverick offers Subaru a template for new small pickups, but Subaru invented the Brat with a small bed and jump seats. We think the renderings here are an excellent idea of what the all-electric Subaru Braterra EV should look like if it launches next year.

The small pickup segment is the fastest-growing segment in North America, and many are available now or will hit the market soon. Subaru was way ahead of the curve with the Brat and Baja pickups, but now they are lagging. It's time to resurrect the Brat, use the Solterra platform, and give it an all-electric drivetrain.

New all-electric pickups are coming soon

The Rivian R1T is the first purpose-built electric pickup to hit the market, months ahead of the Ford F-150 Lightning. Automotive News reports that Ford is increasing production as it scrambles to meet consumer demand for the new electric truck. The upcoming full-size Chevrolet Silverado EV and Tesla Cybertruck are coming soon.

What are Subaru's all-electric plans?

Subaru Corporation CEO Tomomi Nakamura recently said, "So we know that we have to shift or accelerate this plan (40 percent electrified vehicles by mid-2025 to 2030.) Based on how the market receives the new Solterra EV, we can plan what kind of ratios (50-60 percent) we should target for EVs and hybrids."

Subaru needs to move quicker, developing new all-electric models if they are to survive. The all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra compact SUV is the automaker's most important new vehicle launch ever. Now, Subaru needs something like the new 2024 Braterra compact all-electric pickup.

The only decision now is what color Subaru Braterra all-electric pickup you want. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Oh my goodness, I'm so in love with this Subaru truck. I would buy it in a heartbeat and I know others would too. Come on Subaru...Let's do this!

Good analysis, and I completely agree that a Solterra/BRAT would be a huge hit

Electric trucks are a hot market but as you point out all of the current events trucks are huge, heavy trucks. A small ev truck would target the owner of small cars that has wanted a pickup but not something so large they couldnt park the thing in their small garage. This was the reasoning Ford used on their new Maverick truck, and one that Subaru should take a sincere look at.

Lean in to your history Subaru.
