How well is the all-new 2024 Subaru Impreza doing? Surprisingly, the all-new Subaru hatchback is doing better than the Crosstrek in percentage of sales increase over last year. Both models received a complete remodel, which the Impreza needed, impacting sales significantly this year.
Last year, the Crosstrek was the hot model, leading all other nameplates in total sales volume. The Impreza was one of the worst performers in Subaru of America's all-wheel-drive lineup. But that changed this year with the remodel.
Impreza is impressive in the first quarter.
The Subaru Impreza compact hatchback increased 9.2 percent in September after being down in August. SOA delivered 2,868 compact models to customers in September compared with 2,626 sales in September 2022.
The Subaru Crosstrek should be the star, but it's still far off this year. The Crosstrek is down 0.6 percent for the year's first nine months of 2023. Impreza is now up 20.0 percent in the first quarter of 2023, with 27,164 compact models sold in 2023.
The 2024 Impreza arrives in the U.S. after the Japanese automaker shifted production of the compact car back to Japan. A source close to Subaru told this automotive journalist that they are selling the new Impreza hatchback as fast as they can get them from Subaru Corporation.
The Impreza hatch is a hit with customers.
The remodeled 2024 Impreza Base, Sport, and new RS trim levels are a hit with compact car shoppers this fall. Subaru of America chose to drop the Impreza sedan, which was a smart move. Instead, the hatchback body style offers the utility and efficiency small car shoppers are looking for in a compact vehicle.
The all-new sixth-generation Subaru Impreza compact hatch received high-tech upgrades, new interior features, and a restyled exterior design. The Impreza hatch has improved ride quality, advanced safety technology, and more comfortable seats.
Impreza gets more standard safety technology.
When Subaru dropped the 5-speed manual gearbox from the entire Impreza lineup for 2024, it opened up all Impreza trims to come standard with Subaru's EyeSight suite of safety technology.
A new RS trim level with a 2.5-liter engine
The most significant improvement for the 2024 Impreza lineup is the new Impreza RS trim level, which gets a new 2.5-liter engine upgrade. The RS will be the model that breathes new life into the all-wheel-drive compact car. When Subaru of America offered the 2.5-liter engine in the Crosstrek subcompact SUV, sales shot through the roof. The same results are valid for the hot Impreza RS hatch.

The 2024 Subaru Impreza Base hatchback starts at $24,085, the Sport hatch starts at $26,085, and the all-new RS hatch with the 2.5-liter Boxer engine starts at $28,975. Pricing includes destination and delivery fees ($1,090).
