New Subaru Crosstrek Has Been Behind All Year, Now The SUV Records Best Month Ever

The second-generation 2019 Subaru Crosstrek has been behind all year, but it comes speeding back. See the impressive number of compact SUVs delivered to customers in August.

It’s not a surprise the Ascent family hauler has its best August ever since it's only a year old, but the surprise is how the second-generation Subaru Crosstrek is doing. The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek has been down all year, but it gets its mojo back in August. This year the compact crossover saw the brand’s biggest decline, but that all changed last month.

The 2020 Subaru Crosstrek should arrive late this summer or early fall but until then, the 2019 model comes speeding back. Subaru of America (SOA) reports Crosstrek had its best month ever and was up 33.3 percent in August compared with last year. Subaru delivered 15,860 Crosstrek crossovers to customers last month compared with 11,900 for the same month in 2018 to give the compact SUV a record August. Even with its big month, Crosstrek is still down 12.60 percent in 2019.

The new 2020 Subaru Ascent model change has arrived and the family hauler also posted a record month in August. SOA reports Ascent scored a huge 72.8 percent increase compared to August 2018. Last year, 4,235 Ascent 3-Row vehicles were delivered compared with 7,319 models moved off dealer lots last month.

Ascent is manufactured at the U.S. plant in Lafayette, Indiana and they were still ramping up production last year. The family hauler is running at full capacity in 2019 and dealers have a good supply for customers on their lots. You can check out the 2020 model change upgrades with the full TN report.

What’s next for Crosstrek?

The Subaru Crosstrek received a complete redesign from the ground up in 2018 and this is the third year after the new-generation hit showrooms. Don’t expect many changes for the 2020 model change. It will receive a few minor tweaks but it won’t be much. Look for Crosstrek to get a refresh in 2021 that will include exterior and interior revisions.

If you are thinking of buying a Crosstrek before the 2020 models arrive, Subaru is offering 2.9 percent financing on all 2019 models now through September 30, 2019, or you can lease a new Crosstrek for $245/month on a 36-Month Lease for a standard 2.0i 6-speed manual transmission model.

Well, Crosstrek sales in the States need to plummet otherwise we'll never see the turbo version. If and when this gets a turbo, the Crosstrek jumps to the top of my list...I'm due for a new ride in fall of 2022.

Bought my first Crosstrek 2 weeks ago. My 4th Subaru. I love this car! It's so pretty (cool khaki grey), so much fun to drive. Sticking with Subarus.
