The 2015 Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class will be even more efficient and stable when it launches this fall. Mercedes is introducing a new diesel variant with 4MATIC in the popular CLA-Class for the 2015 model year. Mercedes continues their product offensive and this will be a variant for the European and other global markets. Mercedes will expand their product offering in the CLA-Class to include the CLA 200 CDI 4MATIC and CLA 220 CDI 4MATIC.

The only thing better than a fuel efficient diesel 2015 CLA-Class, is a CLA with 4MATIC all-wheel-drive for extra stability. And these models will be fuel efficient and clean-burning. The new models already currently meet the Euro 6 emissions standard and feature the ECO start/stop system as standard.

New CLA 200 CDI gets new 2.2-liter diesel powerplant

The new 2015 CLA 200 CLA gets a new engine with a displacement of 2.2 liters as opposed to 1.8 liters with the outgoing model. The engine produces 100 kW (136 hp) and maximum torque at 300 Nm. This engine has improved efficiency with new modifications like optimization of the belt drive system, a cylinder head package with camshaft roller bearing and additional finishing, optimization of the vacuum pump, aluminum pistons with optimized assembly clearances and a low-friction ring package and optimized roller bearing for the Lanchester balancer shaft.

3 model variants

The CLA 200 CDI is available in three model versions, with manual transmission, with 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission and also as a 4MATIC version with 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission as standard.

More fuel efficient

The combined fuel consumption starting from 4.1 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers (CLA 200 CDI with manual transmission, with 7G-DCT: 4.0 l) is outstanding for this performance class and is one tenth better than the previous model with the 1.8-liter engine. The CLA 200 CDI is rated in efficiency class A+ and the CLA 200 CDI 4MATIC in efficiency class A.

4MATIC available for the first time

The CLA 220 CDI is also now available with all-wheel as an option for the first time. With the same displacement of 2.2 liters, the powerful diesel four-door coupe generates 125 kW (170 hp) and 350 Nm of torque.

The new Mercedes CLA-Class has been a huge success for the German automaker in bringing in new buyers to the brand. Ola Kallenius, Member of the Mercedes-Benz Cars Divisional Board responsible for Sales says, "Our compact models have proved exceptionally popular with customers and provide younger customers in particular with an attractive means of gaining entry into the brand. This is reflected in the capture rate enjoyed by the compact car family.”

The Mercedes product offensive is growing further with the 2015 CLA 200 CDI 4MATIC and 2015 CLA 220 CDI 4MATIC, the first all-wheel drive diesel variants of the new compact four-door coupe. The new 2015 CLA-Class diesel variants can be ordered now. The new versions will arrive in European dealerships starting this September.

A week or two ago I was all excited for this model, I could have sworn I did a build on the Mercedes US website CLA250, 4matic, diesel. Today I go visit them and they had no info the diesel option is even coming to the US. I was quite disappointed. I really want a Diesel AWD for the winters - particularly in Buffalo NY - and get a response like that.
