Future 2015 Mercedes C-Class will be leaner and meaner

The all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is arriving now. What future C-Class models will we be seeing?

2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class buyers have two new models to choose from, the four cylinder turbo 2015 C300 4MATIC and 2015 C400 4MATIC with V6 power, but more is on the way. But there are more new models coming in the future for C-Class buyers. And the new future C-Class models will be getting leaner and meaner. According to a report by Car and Driver, there will be more new C models coming to the U.S. market in the next 12-24 months. We already know about the “meaner” high-performance Mercedes-AMG C63, but what else are we going to see?

A Diesel C-Class

A new C250 BlueTec that will feature Diesel power and will be built at the Mercedes-Benz plant here in Alabama and will be offered in the U.S. market. It will be powered by the same oil burner that comes in the Mercedes GLK 250 SUV. It’s a 2.1-liter four cylinder and will pack 200 horsepower and have a massive 370 lb. ft of torque to get the C-Class launched off the line. Car and Driver says the new Diesel C will be available in Mercedes showrooms in early 2016. It will also be available with the new 4MATIC all-wheel-drive.

A new plug-in hybrid

Mercedes-Benz is going to continue their plug-in hybrid offensive like they started with the new 2015 S550 Plug-in Hybrid. The new C350 plug-in hybrid will also be built in Alabama and be offered to U.S. consumers and will arrive in the spring of 2016. It will use the C300’s turbocharged four and will be mated to an electric motor that was perfected in Formula 1 motorsports. Mercedes has one of the most successful F1 race teams on the planet and they use the knowledge gained from racing and put it into their production vehicles. It’s supposed to offer up to10 miles of electric-only driving.

Mercedes to ramp up PHEV production

Mercedes is committed to ramping up production of their plug-in hybrid models and the new C-Class along with the already launched S550 will continue their product offensive as they increase these models in the future. The C350 PHEV will launch with rear-wheel drive, with 4MATIC a possibility coming later. Mercedes will also be launching anew C450 AMG performance model to compete with BMW’s M Performance models. It will come with the C400’s twin-turbo V6 in the neighborhood of 360hp.

The all-new 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class will be getting both leaner and meaner with new models coming in the future. We will see a new C250 BlueTec diesel variant, a new C350 plug-in hybrid and C450 AMG performance model coming in 2016.
