The J.D. Power TXI technology innovation study is in its sixth year measures usability and ease of use of a brand’s technology. The top brands and vehicles offer the best user experience for customers.

In this year’s study, Ram (483) scores sixth, followed by Buick (478), Toyota (472), Ford (470), and Chevrolet (468) to round out the top ten mainstream car brands. The industry average is 473 points.

Subaru dropped from its number two ranking last year when it won an individual award for the 2021 Ascent family hauler. The Ascent stood out for having the best rearview mirror with a camera among mainstream models and won the technology convenience award in the 2020 J.D. Power TXI tech study.

Subaru did not receive individual model awards in this year’s tech study. Last year, the Smart Rearview Mirror on the Subaru Ascent earned the highest Execution Index score (894) among luxury owners, and the mass market segment with a score of 889.

J.D. Power says, “When technology is effectively executed in a vehicle, it positively influences an owner’s decision to purchase another vehicle equipped with that technology. The highest execution scores in the study are for the camera rearview mirror, which the 2022 Subaru Ascent offers on upper trim levels.

Subaru does not offer the rear-vision camera on the 2022 Forester, 2022 Outback, 2022 Legacy, 2021 Crosstrek, or other models.

According to the 2021 J.D. Power Tech Experience Study, Subaru is one of the top mainstream brands in delivering excellence in executing its new technology features. Subaru scores the number four automakers with customers saying the Subaru Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, Ascent, and other models offer new vehicle technology that they want and use. I own a 2019 Ascent. Its mostly good but I wont buy another until they find a new Nav provider. The current Nav system is horrible, wrong more often than right.
