Is the All-New 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Big Enough? We Give A Firm Answer

The “baby Bronco” is entirely misnamed. Here is how large the 2021 Ford Bronco Sport is by comparison to the Toyota RAV4, Kia Seltos, Jeep Renegade, Hyundai Kona, Mazda CX-30, and Mazda CX-5

The all-new 2021 Ford Bronco is a perfectly-sized compact SUV. It is large enough for five passengers, has ample cargo space, and makes great use of the space it has. We are testing the new Bronco Sport this week and took the above photograph with it side by side with a current-generation Mazda CX-5. As you can see, the Bronco Sport is a good-sized vehicle.

Size is relative. To give readers an understanding of how large the new Bronco Sport is, we poured over sizing charts to save you time. Here is the information we found on the Ford Bronco Sport’s size relative to other popular vehicles in its approximate price and size range. We have rounded to the nearest inch and nearest cubic foot to make the chart easy to read.

As you can see from our tale of the tape, the new 2021 Ford Bronco Sport has more interior volume than a Toyota RAV4 and more cargo volume than any vehicle in its class that makes our list.

The Forgotten Measurement - Knee Area
We’ve driven the Bronco sport and we love that the driver area feels so roomy. There is more than enough right knee area for this tall tester. Most of the vehicles on this list are narrow in the footwell and that means my right knee rubs the center console. Ford perfectly designed the Bronco Sport’s center console to allow room there.

Back Seat Space
The rear seats of the Bronco Sport will work very well for children. However, we did notice that the front seats when fully back come close to the knee area for back seat passengers. For short trips with adult friends, the Bronco Sport will carry five passengers without a problem.

Bronco Sport Cargo Volume and Design
Many crossovers like the Mazda CX-30 chop off the rear roof area or slope it down sharply for style. It may be eye-catching, but it reduces cargo volume. The Bronco Sport is a square. Its interior is a cube and no design makes better use of space in a cargo area than a cube. What we find even more impressive, is that the Bronco Sport stores a full-size spare under its cargo floor in its Badlands and First Edition trims.

Bronco Sport - Is It Big Enough? Yes!
The Bronco Sport is a great new vehicle from Ford that will have you dying to hit the trails and go on adventures. It is one of the most rugged small SUVs on the market and we found it to be the perfect size. Despite a short length by comparison to its competitors, Ford packed in more cargo and passenger volume than many longer vehicles.
