Images of the 2012 Chrysler 200 Convertible leaked

The 2011 Chrysler 200 Sedan made its official debut at the 2010 LA Auto Show and made its Motor City debut this week at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show amidst rumors of an upcoming ragtop but thanks to a leak on the internet, we have our first look at the 2012 Chrysler 200 Convertible.

As you may have expected, the 2012 Chrysler 200 Convertible features the same changes to the front and rear fascia from the outgoing Sebring that are seen on the sedan version of the “new” Chrysler c-segment sedan. Along the side of the car, the 2012 200 Convertible is basically identical to the Sebring that it is replacing but the revised front and back end make for a welcome refresh to a vehicle with a fairly poor reputation.

While these images of the 2012 Chrysler 200 Convertible don’t come with any exciting details, we can expect that the drop-top version of the “new” Chrysler 200 to feature the same extensive improvements that we see in the sedan version. Under the hood, we can also expect to see similarities with the 4-door sedan; with the 2.4L 4-cylinder providing 173 horsepower and the new Pentastar 3.6L V6 delivering a healthy 283 horsepower to the front wheels. The new Pentastar should definitely give the topless Chrysler a firm kick in the pants as during my time behind the wheel of the V6-powered Chrysler 200 sedan I found the new 3.6L engine to be enough to add some fun-to-drive factor. The 200 Convertible should also benefit from the improved suspension geometry found in the 2011 Chrysler 200 sedan, helping the renamed and refined Sebring to do-away with the negative reputation of the past few years.
