Drive the 2015 Ford Mustang Tonight in the Virtual World

Ford Motor Company and Electronic Arts announced that the 2015 Ford Mustang will make its gaming debut tonight in the uber popular Need for Speed series on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 and PC – offering an immersive way for gamers to experience the 2015 Mustang in all its glory.

There are few cars that have appeared in as many video games as the Ford Mustang so it should come as no big surprise that it didn’t take very long for the all new 2015 Ford Mustang GT to show up in a gaming title...coming just a week after the new Mustang made its world debut. Now that games can add cars at any time via online download packages, I expected that one of three driving games would be quick to feature the new S550 Mustang – Forza Motorsport 5, Gran Turismo 6 or Need for Speed: Rivals. For those who arent into the gaming world, Forza Motorsport 5 and Gran Turismo 6 are strict driving simulators while Need for Speed: Rivals is packed with tons of high flying video game driving fun where racers do battle with cops as they race around a fictional town.

Anyone who has Need for Speed: Rivals for Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4 or PC with an internet connection will be able to download the 2015 Ford Mustang for free. Other Mustangs in Need for Speed: Rivals includes the muscular movie car for the upcoming Need for Speed movie in the racer career while the Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang is offered to those playing in cop career mode in three different forms. To show off the 2015 Mustang GT in action in Need for Speed, the Ford Mustang YouTube page has a minute long video with the Mustang in action as it spins the tires, races on road, offroad and through the air with the fictitious blue flame of the available nitrous oxide helping this virtual Mustang top speeds of 200 miles per hour. That full video is available at the bottom of this piece.

As this article goes live here on TorqueNews.com, the 2015 Ford Mustang GT has not become available on my version of Need for Speed: Rivals but a Ford representative has explained that the new Mustang will become available at different times for the different systems and in different geographic regions but gamers around the world should be able to virtually drive the 2015 Mustang GT sometime tonight. Since it is not available yet, I am unsure of whether the new Mustang can be modified in the same fashion as the other cars in the game but as soon as it arrives on my Xbox One console, this article will have an update with more information.

Even though Need for Speed: Rivals was the first video game to feature the 2015 Ford Mustang, I still fully expect to see the newest version of the mighty Mustang in both Gran Turismo 6 and Forza Motorsport 5 very soon – as the Mustang is a staple of both games. In the meantime, Need for Speed: Rivals gets to claim the bragging rights of being the first video game to feature the 2015 Ford Mustang so if you love the Mustang and you are even remotely into gaming, head out to your local video game store to pick up a copy of the newest Need for Speed for the console of your choice and enjoy virtually cruising in the S550 Mustang.
