The 2015 Ford Mustang is No Longer a Future Vehicle on Ford.com

Since late last year, the 2015 Ford Mustang has been listed on Ford.com under Future Vehicles, but in the last 48 hours or so, the 2014 models have been removed from the website and the next generation has been moved to the current vehicle lineup – showing just how close we are to seeing the 2015 Mustang in dealerships and on the road.

If you regularly read TorqueNews.com, you know that we have covered the 2015 Ford Mustang as closely as any publication in the world and in doing so, I spent quite a bit of time poking around on Ford.com for information on both the current 2014 models and the next generation 2015 models. Since the 2015 Mustang made its grand debut at six locations around the world back in December 2013, the next generation version has been listed on Ford.com in the Future Vehicles section while the 2014 Mustang logically appeared with the rest of the current lineup under the normal “Cars” section of the website. However, the 2014 Mustang has been removed from the Cars section and the 2015 Mustang has taken its place.

2015 Mustang, Future Vehicle No More
Ford Motor Company has been surprisingly tight lipped as to when the 2015 Mustang will actually arrive in dealerships around the country and even discussions of topics like the start of S550 Mustang production has been based mostly on rumors and inside information. However, the shift of the 2015 Mustang from a Future Vehicle to the Cars section on Ford.com is a sign that the next generation Mustang is getting very, very close to arriving. It is also a sign that time to get a 2014 Mustang is quickly running out so if you want a new Mustang and you are among the people who aren’t too keen on the look of the new models – you might want to begin shopping very soon.

As an interesting point, while the 2015 Ford Mustang has now joined the current vehicle lineup on Ford.com, the images shown in the Build & Price section still have the “preproduction” label over them. I have seen a bunch of next generation Mustangs in person and they’ve all looked pretty much the same as the cars shown on the Ford website, but in the wonderful world of legal concerns – Ford is likely keeping that “Warning label” on the site until they have launched normal production models for public sale.

Other Future Vehicles Coming Soon from Ford
Now that the 2015 Ford Mustang has been promoted from a Future Vehicle to the current Cars lineup, Ford lists 4 models in the Future section – the lightly refreshed 2015 Focus, the all new 2015 Edge, the all new 2015 F150 and the 2016 F650/F750. That new F150 will almost surely be the next model to leave the Future Vehicles area as it is set to arrive during the 2014 calendar year. The Focus should be next with an anticipated arrival of early 2015 and the Edge should follow the Focus, arriving in the Spring of 2015. Those folks looking to buy a new heavy duty dump truck will be waiting the longest, with the F650/F750 scheduled to go on sale later in the Spring of 2015.

The moral of the story is that the 2015 Ford Mustang is almost here.
