2015 Ford Mustang on Display in Malaysia Today

The slow introduction to the global public continues today, as the 2015 Ford Mustang GT goes on display at the Publika mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, marking the first time that folks in that country can check out the first Mustang built with right hand drive – although the car won’t go on sale until late this year or early in 2016.

The 2015 Ford Mustang was designed to be a global performance car and the 2015 model year is the first to be built by Ford Motor Company with a right hand drive so it is the first that applies to the driving customs of many countries where they drive on what Americans consider to be the wrong side of the road. Australia is the biggest right hand drive market, but the people of Malaysia are among those right side, left lane drivers who are excited to get their hands on an American muscle car built for their roads.

Those folks looking forward to buy a right hand drive 2015 Ford Mustang to drive around their local Malaysian streets can check out the next generation pony car starting today, as the new Mustang is on display at the Publika mall in Kuala Lumpur.

The 2015 Mustang on Display in Malaysia
While prospective 2015 Mustang buyers in Malaysia have surely learned all that there is to know about the first American muscle car engineered for use on their local roads, few of them have had a chance to see the car in person – especially on their home soil. Starting today and running through March 15th, folks who stop in at the Publika mall in Kuala Lumpur can check out the 2015 Mustang in the flesh.

According to Malaysian auto news site paultan.org, the 2015 Ford Mustang on display in the Publika mall is a GT Premium fastback, packing the 5.0L v8 with 435 horsepower. The 2015 Mustang will also be offered as a GT convertible, but it is expected that the high price of buying and feeding the 5.0L V8 will lead most Malaysian buyers to opt for the fuel friendly 2.3L EcoBoost turbocharged 4-cylinder powerplant. It is also expected that both of these engines and both of the body options will be offered with either the 6-speed manual transmission of the 6-speed automatic gearbox.

A Long Wait to Buy in Malaysia
While the 2015 Ford Mustang GT is on display right now in the Publika mall in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian buyers will be waiting quite a while before they can drive and buy one at their local Ford dealership. Some reports indicated that the next gen Mustang wouldn’t reach Malaysia until early 2016, but paultag.org believes that the first models sold to the public could arrive later this year. Based on either of those expected arrival dates, it is likely that the Malaysian new Mustang will be a 2016 model year, but everything else should be the same as the 2015 model year Mustangs sold in other right hand drive markets.
