2020 Chevrolet Equinox Explained 101

The Chevrolet Equinox has received it's 3rd redesign after long overdue in 2018 and since then only a few things have changed, like the new enter screen and upgraded safety features. Let's look at these changes and updates in details.

The Chevrolet Equinox is not the best-selling compact SUV, but it's so popular in the United States because this SUV appeals to a group of buyers who value its design. Yet, the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox will also attract car shoppers who are looking to a variety of engines offered in this vehicle. In fact, the Chevy Equinox is by far GM's second most important nameplate after Silverado. This was an SUV that in 2010 sold fast but was losing money. However, things have now changed.

SUVs have become very popular cars in the United States. This is why we have seen a number of carmakers abandoning their sedans and increasing their SUV production. This niche, however, is dominated mostly by the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V and Ford Escape. These are the vehicles against which the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox must compete.

Trims and Pricing

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox comes in four trims: L LS, LT and Premier. The L trim starts at MSRP of $23,800 and the top Premier trim starts at MSRP of $31,400. I have been test-driving the AWD Premier 2.0T trim, which with all options amounts to $40,435 dollars.

It was in spring 2017 that this third generation Equinox made its debut. If you compare to the last Equinox that the 2020 replaced, the current model is marginally shorter, but its appearance is radically different. The body's sides are enhanced with highly sculpted chrome trim. I think this style is borrowed from Chevrolet Malibu. GM said that Equinox's expressive design also recalls the highly worked forms of the Chevrolet Volt and Cruze. As you can see, although these two vehicles being destined to disappear soon, the style of the Equinox is not likely to become common quickly.

The Reliability of The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox

The 2020 Chevrolet Equinox offers dome solid handling when driving on highways and in city. The drive is smooth and comfortable. The vehicle has a good grip of the road. This is a decent compact SUV, which gets one of the best fuel economy ratings in class. By the way, the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox Diesel got a segment leading 39 MPG.

Thanks to the seat height Equinox drivers enjoy great forward visibility. The comfort level is beyond good because there is an ample support on longer drives. Speaking of the driving comfort: beyond the style effect, Chevy Equinox is a very comfortable vehicle. The car intends to provide comfort and comfort to the occupants, as well as a large choice of powertrains. Bucket seats provide the desired level of support for long journeys.

This car comes with a very-rich infotainment system. The color touch-screen is located in the center of the dashboard. The 7" or 8" touch screen, depending on the version or options chosen, incorporates a MyLink infotainment system capable of supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the OnStar 4G LTE system with Wi-Fi access point. The OnStart 4G LTE Wi-Fi is one of the best things I like in GM/Chevy cars. This is a feature that lacks in many other cars I have test-driven.

The interior has a very modern look. The color arrangement is usually two-tone and they are delightful. The Leather upholstery in the Premier trim makes the Equinox a high-end SUV. When you know that a fully equipped Equinox Premier can cost well over $ 40,000, we realize that this high-end status that Chevrolet wants to associate with this version does exist. Unfortunately, the abundance in the passenger compartment of parts made of average quality plastic clashes with such a picture.

The spacious interior of the 2020 Chevrolet Equinox provides the desired comfort for four medium-sized adults. The bucket seats provide the desired level of support for long journeys, while the rear seat has generous knee and foot space. The backrests can be folded down, allowing huge cargo space. This trunk, to which a large tailgate facilitates access, allows the Equinox to be adapted to a host of needs.

One of the nicest features of the 2020 Equinox is that you have the option of switching from front-wheel-drive to all-wheel-drive back and forth. You have two powerful engines to choose from. If you need more traction and control on slippery or snow-covered roads use the AWD, if no, switch your SUV to FWD to gain a little more efficiency in terms of mileage.

The 1.5L Turbo Engine gives you an EPA-estimated 31 miles per gallon. This is an efficient engine choose. Yet, the 2.0 Turbo Engine, paired with 9-speed automatic transmission gives the driver 3,500 lobs. towing capability, offers 252 horsepower with 26. lb.-ft. of torque.
