Chinese Want Volt Technology in Exchange for Access to China

The Chinese are asking for G.M. to share Volt technology with them. Oterwise they are refusing to allow the Volt to benefit from subsidies. In China those subsidies can be close to $20,000. Ford is sharing their technology with China. The World Trade Organization says that China's refusal to allow subsidies without sharing technology makes it too expensive to sell the car in China. This may be a violation of WTO trade regulations. China is a member of the WTO
