When You Can Expect 2022 Toyota 4Runner

We look at 2022 4Runner production dates so you can decide when to buy your next ride.

This is the time of year when auto manufacturers begin distributing information about their next model year cars, trucks and SUVs.

We will know soon enough whether our favorite vehicles will be completely redesigned, slightly refreshed, or stay the same.

Same goes with Toyota 4Runner.

People Comment on Toyota 4Runner

I get quite a few emails from viewers of my “Toyotajeff” YouTube channel and readers of my Torque News / Toyota News column, which I am thankful for. Quite a few of them have focused on Toyota 4Runner and when the next model year will arrive.

For example, here are some interesting excerpts from the past few weeks:

“Hi Jeff. Do you know when 2022 4Runner comes out?”

“I’m trying to decide if I should buy a 2021 (4Runner) or wait for 22. Any thoughts?”

“What changes are coming for 2022 4Runner?”

“Will 2022 4Runner be any different?”

There are also several 4Runner fans wondering if they will be able to get their 2021 4Runner TRD Pro (in Lunar Rock specifically) before production ends and 2022 ramps up.

This may help you a little.

2022 Toyota 4Runner release date

Typically, Toyota releases their newest model year trucks and SUVs, like 4Runner and Tundra and Tacoma and Highlander, near the end of the year. Often this timeline begins with September and runs until the end of the calendar year.

The 2022 4Runner is currently expected to launch around September time frame. To me, this means some could start reaching retail dealerships across the country mid-to-late September and really reaching higher volume into October and beyond.

Of course, this is a tentative timetable and could change based on supply logistics and conditions around the world.

As they say on the TV show Big Brother, “expect the unexpected.” Yes, I watch that show most seasons. Do not judge haha.

2022 4Runner design and specs

You may also be asking yourself what to look for with a 2022 Toyota 4Runner. In short, there is nothing to report.

We know the next gen 4Runner is in the planning stages, but there is literally no other information to report on at this time.

Toyota is a corporation known for keeping its new releases and new model year details a secret. Until it is ready to reveal to the world.

We barely know more than a few bullet points about all-new 2022 Tundra and that is scheduled to come out as a 2022 model year.

No surprise that we wait for Toyota 4Runner information as well.

Time for your Toyota 4Runner comments

I feel there is still plenty of time to get in your orders for 2021 4Runner TRD Pro and other 4Runner trim levels as well. You may want to contact your favorite dealers as soon as you feel comfortable, though.

No reason to miss out on whatever you have your heart set on.

Are you waiting for news on what comes next for 2022 4Runner and the next generation 4Runner entry? Anything specific you are hoping to see with styling, performance or features?

Have you had luck buying or getting on a wait list for a Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro or another grade? How is the supply of 4Runners as your local Toyota dealerships?

Thanks for reading everyone. See you next story when I discuss the chip shortage that is affecting supplies of Tacoma and Tundra and 4Runner.

Hopefully, a new redesign with more power, mechanically vs software driven suv. The mated 5speed 4L V6 is certainly the 4runner's charm, and longevity. But more power never hurt! Keep it simple! I'm also big on ventilated seats, but want to go off road and this feature is only Limited, no pun intended. Another feature, maybe minor, but the headliner is a biggie, there has to be another option perhaps a darker or another fabric colour.
Lastly, if Toyota wanted to add a special colour in their new redesign, I think choosing from the palate of Browns should be considered, go great with black contrast. Another thing, might be an offshoot, but Toyota can come up with a new name, alongside the 4 Runner by adding the word TONKA TOY!

I'm in the market and set to consider a bone stock TRD OFF Road Premium, in the Nautical Blue 2021. But I'm holding off, anticipating to see, if perhaps, any of what I listed might be incorporated in the new 2022/23 redesign, as I said ventilated seats and headliner might be the deciding factor, oh and blind spot monitoring. Can't forget that!
And a new catchy name! Could be the new TOY! TRD OFFROAD TONKA 4RUNNER 2022 EDITION. Just sounds rugged, especially in Dark (but not too dark) Forest Brown! Just my thoughts!

Wish the TRD Off-Road packages had an option for the sand beige interior and add just touch of richness to that color.

I love the look of the 4Runner TRD. It seems silly that the Rav4 TRD comes with ventilated seats, but the 4Runner TRD does not. My wife needs a larger vehicle and we have decided to upgrade from a 2020 Rav4 to an Acura MDX. Ventilated seats was the deciding factor.

Just put $500 down on a 22 TRD Pro. Dealer said I am looking at 6-8 months with Toyota just announcing they're cutting production.
