With the C-X17 Concept is Jaguar ready to enter the Space Race?

No, but Jaguar is finally ready to hit the Crossover/SUV market with its all new 4x4 C-X17 Concept, shown in a video here.

This new 4x4 crossover SUV was unveiled at last year’s Frankfurt Motor Show and the news caused some excitement for those who have been wishing for a true sport utility from Jaguar. A “Blend of Seductive Design and Intelligent Performance” is how Jaguar describes it. Ian Callum (Jaguar Design Director) stated “We designed the C-X17 from the ground up from a distinct set of principles, a deep sense of what makes a Jaguar car: exciting proportions, clean lines, balance of form. Assertive and powerful, yet with a beautiful sensuality about it, the C-X17 is boldly, distinctively Jaguar”.

After its release the C-X17 has been shown in three new colors, Caesium Blue, Liquid Aluminum, and Liquid Gold. Jaguar is ready to battle head to head with its closest competitors, the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3, however, this SUV is larger in size than the closest offering from Range Rover and Land Rover. And if you curious or questioning the capabilities of Jaguar to make an off road worthy vehicle, don’t forget that Jaguar and Land Rover are owned by the same company! Land Rover sales have been performing very well in the US, so Jaguar hopes to find its place in this market with its own style of sophisticated off road adventure vehicle.

The exact specifications of the engine lineup have not been finalized but we know that Jaguar’s engine lineup packs a powerful punch no matter which engine they choose to equip in this SUV. It should also come fully loaded with all the latest tech goodies, including a new in-car (on board) Wi-Fi system that will come in handy for those long road trips.

When we see this new crossover hit the streets has been rumored to be sometime in 2016 with an estimated MSRP of around $47,000. Some of you may be asking do we really need another SUV to choose from, Jaguar is hoping you will say yes to the new C-X17 (4x4) Sport Utility vehicle.
