Despite still being seen as something of an underdog in the premium segment, Genesis makes some serious cars. The G70 is the entry-level sedan model, but there is nothing entry-level about it. Quality interior, great chassis, and a punchy twin-turbo V-6 (in addition to the base 2.5 turbo) make it a proper performance luxury sedan.
However, things can be less exciting when you get your Genesis back from the dealer after repairs, as one owner found out. The owner provided a video in the Genesis G70 Owners group on Facebook, where he mentions the city in which the dealership is located.
A rushed job or something else?
The owner of this 2025 Genesis G70 3.3t doesn’t say much, and frankly, he doesn’t need to. The issue is obvious, as he is able to rotate the bolts on the chassis braces by hand. We don’t know why the car was at the dealership (perhaps basic maintenance), but it is clear that the mechanics did not fasten the bolts even by hand.
The result? The bolts stick out to the point where closing the front hood results in damage. There are obvious dents and scratches where the hood has made contact with the bolts, and the dealership may have to replace the entire part under warranty.
There are a bunch of service recalls for the Genesis G70, many of which require under-the-hood intervention, but none of them relate to the 2025 Genesis G70.
At least the bolts were put in the right place, which likely means the job was rushed or the mechanic forgot to tighten them. While we are all human and can make mistakes, this is a level of incompetence that should not exist, especially at a place that should know these cars better than anyone.
This may not be an isolated issue at this dealership, and other group members have a few things to say.

A fellow Genesis owner says, “I worked at Hyundai/Genesis of St Cloud, just an hour northwest of the Twin Cities, and this is wild! I heard the occasional bad story about Genesis of Minneapolis, but not even hand-tightening the bolts is crazy!”
Another member hints at the Genesis brand still not having a substantial dealership network, leaving owners without many options when needing warranty work or other repairs: “Every time I go there, something new is wrong.. but where else do we go in the Twin Cities, especially warranty work?”
Another member replies to this by providing an alternative: “Make the drive up to St. Cloud Genesis if you want to ensure quality work. I worked in service there, and we had a very high-quality standard and amazing staff.”
Another user says: Good cars ruined by dealerships. Same with the Stinger.”
What the owner is doing.
The owner has already taken action as he contacted the manager of the service department, who will reportedly pick up the car. The owner is being assured that the dents on the inner side of the hood will be fixed. There will be more to this when the owner gets his car back.
Genesis managed to become a brand liked by many, which is not easy in a premium segment, dominated by Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, and Audi. Unfortunately, some of the dealerships are not up to standards, like this particular case shows. Another issue is that the Genesis dealer network isn’t as substantial as some of its rivals, which leaves people in some regions without a lot of options when needing repairs under warranty.
Have you had a similar experience with a dealership or an independent repair shop? If so, I’d love to hear about it. Feel free to hit the comment section below and share your stories.
