The Many Changes the Tesla Cybertruck Has Gone Through

The Tesla Cybertruck has gone through a lot of changes. Here's what they are and the final version will be like.

The Tesla Cybertruck - Many Changes

When the Cybertruck had its unveiling in 2019, many thought that it would release a year or two after that. Well, 4 years have passed now, and the Cybertruck is a lot different now than when it was first shown. Here are some of the changes that happened.

There is now a yoke steering wheel, but this yoke is different from what was originally put in the Model S Plaid. The Yoke is more horizontal and rounded, making it easier to operate like a regular steering wheel.

There are no traditional door handles on the Cybertruck. Instead, Tesla is making it so that the technology of the Cybertruck will automatically unlock for owners without needing to use physical handles. This begs the question though - how do you get in if the Cybertruck has no power?

The front row seating of the Cybertruck is different in that there are only two seats now with a center console instead of the 3 seats that were shown in the first images.

There is a redesigned vault for the Cybertruck. This is simply the name for the back bed of the truck, where you can put stuff. There is a thick cover with rubber linings, suggesting that the Cybertruck can handle water. There are also buttons that allow controlling it that look durable.

More Changes of the Tesla Cybertruck

There is a marble dash that goes up to the windshield and in the latest designs, the marble dash has changed quite a bit. These changes suggest that they were done to make production easier and be less expensive overall.

The Cybertruck is going to be very difficult to manufacture due to its immense size, and I think this is why Tesla has made no part of the exterior rounded. No steel will need to be bent to fit a certain shape.

I think one of the changes that may surprise people is that there will eventually be a version of the Cybertruck with LFP batteries. This version won't have as much towing power or range, but will cost a lot less and be affordable for those on a budget.

Lastly, I think Tesla will offer some add-ons that nobody has thought of yet, and I expect to see solar panels as an optional add-on as well. What other things will be different about the Cybertruck?

This whole vehicle is about being different for the sake of being different. The novelty will wear off quickly. Case in point: the yoke is now more like a regular steering wheel. If a steering wheel is the best and most elegant solution for a ground vehicle (this is not an aircraft), what’s the point of the yoke in the first place? The “new” steering-wheel-like -yoke is a concession that the yoke in a ground vehicle serves no useful purpose and actually reduces functionality. That is an ironic allegory for this whole silly vehicle.
