Best Deals on Fuel-Efficient Cars and SUVs

Here’s the latest selection from Consumer Reports on what they found to be 10 non-Hybrid and Hybrid models that are the best deals toward buying the most fuel-efficient cars based on overall fuel-economy test results, recent consumer car shopping data, and current MSRP pricing.

Reliability, Savings, and Fuel Efficiency

This week, Consumer Reports analysts updated their tiered selection of fuel-efficient vehicles focused on cars and SUVs for economy in not only the mpg you can expect, but also to help consumers find their next car to fit their needs and wallet.

To help CR members, we reviewed the latest transaction data reflecting what people actually paid for cars in the past month. We then filtered the list to include only CR Recommended models among the best fuel economy for their class. In short, these are good models with good fuel economy,” stated Consumer Reports.

It’s as Good as it Gets Right Now

However, don’t expect to find any deep discounts anytime soon as CR analysts recently pointed out about their most recent updated selections:

We sorted the data to rank the vehicles by how close their average transaction price is to the MSRP on the window sticker, starting with the best deal. Given the limited car inventory and heightened interest in efficient models, all of these have sold for between 1 and 7 percent over MSRP. That’s as good as it gets right now.”
