What Sets The New Subaru Crosstrek Above All Other Subcompact SUVs

The 2020 Subaru Crosstrek is the best subcompact SUV according to Consumer Reports. See what sets it apart from the competition.

There are many good subcompact SUVs available for shoppers but which ones are the best? Consumer Reports rates all subcompact models and says the new 2020 Subaru Crosstrek is head-and-shoulders above the rest. CR gives the Crosstrek an overall score of 85 with the Hyundai Kona, Nissan Rogue Sport tying for second with a score of 78 points.

Can you trust Consumer Reports? A report from Media Bias/Fact Check says you can. CR scores the vehicles in Predicted Reliability, Predicted Owner Satisfaction, Road Test Score, CR's Overall Fuel Mileage, Acceleration, Braking, Routine, and Emergency Handling, Ride and Noise.

What sets the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek apart?

Crosstrek is lowest in cost of ownership

According to the newest Vincentric Best Value in America Awards, Subaru scores three winners with the lowest insurance costs, lowest ownership, and low depreciation costs. Vincentric announces Subaru Crosstrek is best in class. Having the highest resale value and lowest depreciation rate in its class contributed to the win.

Three more things set Subaru Crosstrek apart

What sets the 2020 Crosstrek apart from other entry-level compacts is the Boxer engine in combination with AWD technology, which provides dynamic driving performance coupled with its unique safety features. The new-generation EyeSight safety system is now offered as standard equipment on the new Crosstrek when equipped with the CVT automatic transmission.

2020 Subaru Crosstrek features 8.7-inches of ground clearance

The Subaru Crosstrek also comes with 8.7-inches of ground clearance which no competitor exceeds. Subaru says 30 percent of Crosstrek owners take their subcompact SUV off-pavement for weekend adventures. Crosstrek also comes with X-Mode for more severe winter driving and off-road excursions.

Forester and Outback also score best in class

The 2020 Subaru Forester also scores highest in the Compact SUV class. It ties with the Mazda CX-5 with a score of 84 to lead all other models. CR says the 2020 Subaru Outback wins in the All-Wheel-Drive Wagon category (87 points) where the vehicle resides alone with no other competition.

In addition, the 2020 Subaru Crosstrek is high on the fun to drive meter, its standard all-wheel-drive gives it excellent all-weather capabilities and it features multi-purpose utility. Crosstrek comes in base ($23,155 including destination), Premium ($24,205), Limited ($28,405), and Hybrid ($36,155) trims.

love my 2019! hope it holds up for the long haul. i keep my cars for 15 years plus! oil changes are a snap to do your self ! i do not have a problem with lack of power or how the cvt works. i got mine up to 95 and it had more in it but I got pulled over by a cop. pick up is ok. the car does great in the snow and ice, I had it on Lake George N.Y. on the ice for the winter carnival. interior noise is a little loud but i have the lower model so maybe the higher models are better. the eye sight works good so far and i love the adaptive cruise control.
cargo space is limited so I got a thule cargo carrier.
mpg is not affected much buy it and is great for our snowboards and equipment . perfect size for me, my wife, daughter, and dog. might be my 6 year olds first car

As a happy owner of a 2019 Corsstrek I want to point something out. It is slow, engine is noisy, and it takes awhile to get used to the CVT. Otherwise a great little wagon, would buy it again.

We are a 2 Subaru family. I my 2018 Crosstrek and our 2019 Forester. Both are similarly equipped. We love everything about them! Overall the best vehicles we ever had out of the 15 or so, over 45 years of driving. Yes, we’ve had recalls, but ANYTHING made my man is subject to error.
