The Subaru WRX And STI Are Now The Fastest-Selling New And Used Sports Car

A new report says the 2020 Subaru WRX and STI sell faster than any other sports car. See what it means if you are looking to buy a new or used performance model.

It’s an outstanding list for Subaru to be on, but it may not be the best for performance buyers looking for a new 2020 Subaru WRX or STI. A new report from iSeeCars reveals the sport-tuned 2020 Subaru WRX and performance-tuned STI are in high demand and are the fastest-selling new sports cars. They take just 69.8 days to sell when the average sports car takes 107.2 days to move off the dealer’s lot.

If you have tried to purchase a 2020 Subaru WRX or STI, it’s hard to find the exact color and trim you want because they are flying off retailers’ lots. You also won’t find any deals on the two performance sedans because Subaru retailers know they are in short supply.

When you combine the sports car’s popularity with the automaker’s two plants shut down for eight weeks, it’s led to record low inventories of both models for the Camden, N.J. automaker. Even before the coronavirus pandemic, Subaru kept its U.S. inventory low to keep resale values high. It works because Kelly Blue Book reports the WRX has the highest resale value of any sports car.

All of Subaru’s models are selling fast, and the Japanese automaker has the fastest-selling new cars of any automaker in North America. And the 2020 Forester compact SUV and 2020 Crosstrek subcompact SUV are also two of the fastest-selling new vehicles.

Subaru WRX, STI, and BRZ top the fastest-selling used cars

The Subaru WRX and STI, BRZ two-door sports coupe, and Subaru Ascent SUV are the fastest-selling used cars. The Subaru BRZ takes just 44.5 days to sell, while the WRX and STI take 51.5 days when the average used sports car takes 70.4 days to sell. The Subaru Ascent 3-Row family hauler takes 55.8 days to sell when the average used SUV takes 72.1 days.

Why are the WRX and STI the quickest selling sports cars?

There are three reasons why Subaru tops the fastest-selling new sports car list. First, the WRX and WRX STI offer all-wheel-drive as standard equipment, which sets the brand apart from all other automakers. The performance models don’t have to sit in the garage all winter. Owners can have more fun in the snow than any other performance car on the road.

With a starting MSRP of $28,395, including destination, the WRX is arguably the best performance value. You can buy a higher performance STI for $37,895, including all fees and offers plenty of fun for the money.

The sport-tuned 2020 Subaru WRX and performance-tuned WRX STI need a complete remodel, but the two performance sedans are still the best performance value on the planet.
