How To Easily Set Up A Roof Top Tent On Your Subaru Crosstrek, Forester, Or Outback

Spring is finally here. See how easy it is to set up a rooftop tent on your Subaru Crosstrek, Forester, or Outback.

If you own a Subaru Crosstrek, Forester, or Outback you probably lead an active lifestyle because more people are drawn to the Subaru brand because they are the original all-wheel-drive SUV vehicle for urban-adventurers. In Colorado, the ski areas have closed early because of the coronavirus and winter sports are over. You are tired of being quarantined inside, and now is a great time to get outside and explore the outdoors.

There is no better way to enjoy the spring weather than to get a rooftop tent and head out into the wilderness. All you need is a few accessories, camping gear, and you are ready to set up a campsite anywhere you find an open camping spot in the National Forester. Subaru says about 30 percent of Crosstrek buyers will take the subcompact SUV off-road. Forester and Outback owners also lead active lifestyles and are using their vehicles for outdoor adventures.

Some owners just lower the backseat, roll out a sleeping bag or buy a custom mattress and sleep in the back, but you can create an outdoor living space with a rooftop tent that will allow you to spend more nights out.

When you add a roof-top tent, all three Subaru models become even more ideal outdoor adventure vehicles. With Subaru’s standard Symmetrical all-wheel-drive system coupled with X-Mode, you can get farther away from civilization.

Even though they are capable of towing, you don’t have to buy a camper or even pay for expensive motel rooms. A rooftop tent will turn your Subaru into an outdoor venue wherever you’d like it to be.

Check your facts, the standard Outback roof rails are NOT strong enough for most rooftop tents, but the Thule crossbars are! Recently Retired Subaru employee.

Thanks for the video. What year Outback is this? I have a 2020 and I know the standard crossbars cannot be used to mount a roof rack, but third party racks like Thule evo wings which have fit kits for the 2020 outback are able to support a RTT correct?
