EPA Says The New Subaru Crosstrek City Fuel Mileage Is Down While Highway Is Up

The EPA just released the next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek gas mileage. A new report from the EPA reveals the 2024 Crosstrek subcompact SUV now gets one mile per gallon less in the city and combined mileage than the 2023 models. The report says the all-new 2024 Crosstrek now gets one more MPG in highway driving.

The one MPG decrease and improvement applies to the 2024 Crosstrek with the 2.0-liter Boxer engine. So what is the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek's fuel mileage? The 2.0-liter engine gets 28/33 mpg and 30 combined mpg with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic.

What is the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek fuel mileage?

The new Crosstrek with the 2.0-liter engine now gets 27/34 mpg and 29 combined mpg with the Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) automatic. Subaru dropped the 6-speed manual trims.

What is the 2024 Crosstrek Sport, Limited, and all-new Wilderness fuel mileage with the 2.5-liter engine? The three models use the re-tuned 2.5-liter four-cylinder Boxer engine, and the EPA still needs to release the information.

However, the EPA revealed the Impreza's 2.5-liter engine fuel mileage. It may be similar to the Crosstrek. The new 2024 Impreza 2.5-liter gets an EPA-estimated 26/33 city/highway mpg and 29 combined mpg.

The 2023 Crosstrek with the 2.5-liter engine achieved 27/34 city/highway mpg and 29 combined mpg. So it's likely, the 2024 Crosstrek Sport, Limited, and Wilderness with the 2.5-liter engine will also drop in fuel mileage.

Why do the 2024 Crosstrek trims get lower fuel mileage?

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has added weight due to the exterior cladding and new EyeSight driver-assist safety technology. In addition, the newly redesigned front facia could also be less aerodynamic than the outgoing 2023 models.

There haven't been any changes to the 2.0-liter engine's horsepower and torque, but the re-tuned 2.5-liter liter Crosstrek engine gained slightly in torque. The previous model had 182 horsepower and 176 lb. -ft. of torque. The 2024 Crosstrek now has 182 horsepower and 178 lb.-ft. of torque. The 2.0-liter engine stays with 152 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque.

What type of gas does the 2024 Subaru Crosstrek require?

With fuel prices rising, do you need the more expensive grade of gasoline for the 2024 Crosstrek? If you buy the new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, the remodeled vehicle is designed to run on 87 octane or regular gasoline, and you don't need expensive premium or mid-grade unleaded gas.

The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek is still fuel efficient even with the changes. The EPA says the new Crosstrek subcompact SUV now gets one mile per gallon less in the city and combined mileage than the 2023 models and improved one MPG in highway driving.
