2023 Subaru Solterra EV - The Three Month Performance Review

The all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra EV just finished its first three months of sales. So how is the new Subaru electric compact SUV doing? Check out the Solterra performance review here.

How is the 2023 Subaru Solterra doing in its first three months of sales? The first Solterra sales were in November 2022, and its first whole month was in December. Subaru of America (SOA) reported that the all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra EV had 347 compact SUV sales in February in its third month of sales.

SOA reported the all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra electric compact SUV, in its first whole month of sales, sold 825 EVs to U.S. customers. The Solterra had 919 total model sales in 2022 after arriving in November. The Solterra EV, in its second month of sales, had 499 compact SUV sales in January.

With February's sales, the Solterra has 1,765 new models delivered to U.S. customers.

Can you still order the 2023 Solterra?

Subaru's all-new 2023 Solterra EV has arrived in the U.S., but SOA's allotment of the battery-electric model is already pre-sold. Subaru of America closed the Solterra reservation system over one year ago on February 28, 2022, and said the new compact SUV EV sold out in the first 72 hours. SOA's retailers filled their reservations within a few days of the system going live.

When will the 2024 Solterra EVs be available for sale?

Subaru of America has yet to release delivery dates for the 2024 Solterra. Unfortunately, we don't know the 2024 model pricing, as Subaru has yet to announce the 2024 model updates.

What should customers do if they want a new Solterra now?

Customers who order a new Solterra EV will likely get the 2024 Solterra models delivered later in 2023. Subaru will make minor changes, if any, to the 2024 model year only in its second year of production. But there will be a price increase.

The 2024 Subaru Solterra EV will be a hot new SUV for Subaru of America, and they will sell as many as they can get from Subaru Corporation. However, the Japanese automaker doesn't control the production of the new Solterra, as Toyota manufactures it.

Who should consider buying the Solterra?

Customers looking for a battery electric vehicle will get a Solterra with all-wheel-drive all-weather performance, fun-to-drive, unique vehicle balance in severe conditions, and top safety scores. Subaru infused the 2023 Solterra EV with its core values, not those of other automakers.

The all-wheel-drive Subaru Solterra is already a success because it's designed for Subaru's customers looking to have some fun in the snow and for off-pavement excursions with their electric SUV.

What is Solterra's safety score?

This month, the IIHS named the Subaru Ascent, Outback, and 2023 Solterra (built after October 2022) SUVs 2023 Top Safety Pick+ winners.

Does Solterra qualify for the new U.S. EV tax credit?

Unfortunately, Solterra does not qualify for the new U.S. EV tax credit. Only EVs and PHEVs with a final assembly point in North America qualify for the consumer tax incentive. The Solterra is manufactured in Japan. Subaru has indicated that it plans to submit the Solterra to the IRS list but has yet to do so. The Solterra may also qualify for state and local incentives.

The all-new 2023 Subaru Solterra EV three-month sales performance review reveals Subaru of America is selling and delivering the new EV to customers as fast as they can get them from Japan. In addition, new Subaru EVs are coming in the next five years. Check the report below for more details.
