Study- Mazda's CX-9 Is the Crossover That Owners Find Best Meets Their Expectations

In a new study by AutiPacifica, owners report that the Mazda CX-9 is the 3-row crossover that best meets their expectations. What makes it special?

The Mazda CX-9 is a 3-row crossover making headlines. The CX-9 was fully renewed by Mazda recently and is now an "all-Mazda" vehicle sharing nothing with the Ford crossovers from which the prior generation was developed. Since its introduction, it has been winning over reviewers, fans, and shoppers with Mazda's notorious mix of upscale interior appointments, great looks outside, fantastic handling, and a price significantly lower than other premium vehicles in its class. That Mazda has just won an AutoPacifica Award should come as no surprise.

The particular AutoPacifica award the Mazda CX-9 won is one we respect because it isn't based on editors' or bloggers' opinions, but rather is simply a result of owner responses to surveys. The AutoPacifica Ideal Vehicle Award (IVA) measures how well a vehicle meets its owner's expectations. “IVA’s speak to a vehicle’s layout and design,” says AutoPacific president George Peterson. “Giving owners a chance to tell us what they would change and how they would change it reveals which vehicles are designed to meet their needs and expectations. In other words, having owners who are happy with things the way they are says the manufacturer did their upfront research and designed the vehicle with their target buyer in mind.” If you think about it, does any other type of award matter as much?

Mazda is in good company. Having won its segment (Large Crossover) it joins vehicles from BMW, Audi, and Mercedes Benz who also won crossover categories.
