Lexus has issued a Limited Service Campaign (Remedy Notice) covering the Lexus RC Coupe and IS Sedan. Due to a manufacturing error, sealant may not have been applied properly to the inner portion of rear fender arch. That can allow water and road salts to penetrate the arch and cause corrosion. The specific vehicles affected include the following:
2015 Lexus RC and RC F models
2014-2015 IS 250 and IS 350 models

Here is the most important part of this heads up: Lexus states that this Remedy is being offered only through March 31st, 2018. Yes, that is a year away, but why wait until the corrosion has already started? Act now to have your Lexus properly sealed by the dealer.

Lexus says that there is no charge to the owners and it can be performed at any Lexus dealership. In some cases body work and paint may be required to completely fix this, and the Lexus notice says that your local Lexus dealer will arrange for these repairs (likely at a local body shop). Although Lexus dealers often have many loaner cars, a call ahead to ensure one will be available to you would be wise.

You can search your specific VIN here to check if your car is affected, or you can call your dealer. Lexus is mailing out notices now to the owners on record. Lexus' internal documents on this issue say that customers who have had this issue and had it repaired at their own cost will be considered for reimbursement. If you have the service done, please comment below and tell us more.
