If you have been eyeing the 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF Launch Edition, today is the day to take action! The all-new MX-5 Miata RF features a fastback design with a retractable hard-top roof. Mazda has just released the pricing, and it is $33,850 for the SKYACTIV-MT six-speed manual and $34,925 for models with the six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers that want to reserve theirs today need only place a $500 deposit. By the way, we nailed the price estimate in our preview story!

Ordering today means that you are on Mazda’s short-list of 1,000 loyal customers it reached out to in advance. The company didn’t give any specifics on who those loyal customers are, so if you are among them, please comment below and tell us about your Mazda connections (what cars you own). This previous owner of a 2007 MX-5 Miata Grand Touring didn’t make the cut.

I was lucky enough to get an invite and pre-ordered one. I've been wondering how Mazda picked customers as well. Here's my Mazda history.

Purchased new 2001 Tribute
Traded Tribute in 2004 for a new RX-8 Sport
Traded RX-8 in 2014 for a new 6 Grand Touring

All of these vehicles were purchased from the same dealership and all maintenance and service was performed there as well.

I bought new a 2006 3rd Generation Limited Edition MX-5 and still own it. I also bought a 2009 CX-9, which I sold earlier this year. Both vehicles were serviced at Mazda dealerships.
