Scion rolls out 2012 Scion xD and 2012 Scion xB Release Series in Texas

Japanese carmaker Scion today introduced its 2012 xD Release Series 4.0 and 2012 Scion xB Release Series 9.0 in Dallas. Both cars are affordably priced at under $20,000.

The two special Scions, which will remain on display at the State Fair of Texas until Oct. 23, are limited editions that will be ready to drive from Scion dealership showrooms in October.

Scion will build 800 units of the 2012 Scion xD RS 4.0. It will be sold for $16,250 base, and $17,050 for buyers who add a special manual and automatic transmission. Only 1,500 of the 2012 Scion xB RS 9.0 will be assembled. The MSRP of the xB is $18,110, or $19,060 when specially equipped with a manual and automatic transmission.

Add a handling fee of $730 to the price of each of the two special Scions. Both models have individually numbered badges. The xB's badge is illuminated.

Both Scions are equipped with a new Pioneer AM / FM / CD / HD / USB audio system that features Bluetooth hands-free, Bluetooth streaming audio, 160-watt output and HD Radio technology.

Both Scions come with Scion Service Boost, a plan folded into the price for each car that covers normal factory-scheduled maintenance and immediate roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles.

The 2012 Scion xD Release Series 4.0 comes exclusively in a premium Blizzard Pearl exterior paint and is upgraded with 16-inch alloy wheels that are finished in a smoked platinum color. The xD’s Blizzard Pearl paint appears on color-tuned trim pieces on the center console, steering wheel and door panels.

The xD's seats are wrapped in a soft-touch material accented with white stitching. The xD has carpeted floor and cargo mats with a Release Series logo and white stitching around the border.

The 2012 Scion xB Release Series 9.0 (pictured) comes painted in attention-getting Hot Lava. The xB’s hot exterior is paired with a unique honeycomb-patterned lower grille that incorporates “SCION” into the mix.
When locking or unlocking doors, the front and rear Scion badges illuminate, allowing the car to be spotted easier in a parking lot at night.

The xB RS 9.0 also features exclusive perforated synthetic suede front and rear seat covers that feature an embossed Scion logo and Hot Lava color-tuned highlights.

A large TV, radio and print campaign to promote the cars begins on Oct. 3.
