Mazda broke ground this month on a new auto plant in Mexico. The joint venture between the Japanese carmaker and Sumitomo Corp. creates the newly formed Mazda Motor Manufacturing de Mexico S.A. de C.V. Plant workers will assemble the Mazda2 and Mazda3 for Central American and South American markets beginning in 2014.

General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) stock hit its book price a few weeks ago, but now has turned some kind of corner by breaking out of its 4-week high-low channel as well as its 5-day high-low channel. The Chrysler Group has done a masterful job of keeping the 2013 Dodge Viper under wraps, with just a few spyshots and some teaser releases about upcoming technology but according to the Mopar aficionados at Allpar.com, when the 2013 Dodge Viper hits the streets next year it could pack a new 8.7 liter version of the V10 engine.

Ford’s MyKey technology will have a new feature added to SYNC so parents (who have enough to worry about when they hand their keys to a teenager) can block incoming phone calls and deter text messages while teens are behind the wheel. This will make the Do Not Disturb feature, available on all 2011 vehicles with SYNC and MyFord Touch, available as a parental control through MyKey when the new Explorer rolls out in early 2012.

Just one day after the United Auto Workers announced that their workers had voted (sort of) to ratify the new 4-year labor contract with the Chrysler Group, Chrysler has announced their financial results for the 2011 Q3 – showing revenue of $13.1 billion and a profit of $212 million while moving almost a half million vehicles around the world.
