Audi asks drivers to take the Audi Driver's Pledge

Audi announces a national initiative that encourages drivers across America to take the Audi “Driver’s Pledge” as part of their stated mission to make the road a more intelligent place. They are challenging drivers to take a stand exemplifying responsible driving.

“Drivers daily face an unintelligent road. Frustrations, distractions and deterrents bombard drivers as they go from place to place,” said Scott Keogh, chief marketing officer of Audi of America. “Audi recognizes these conditions and is on a mission to find solutions that not only assist our drivers, but also help improve daily driving conditions across the nation. Now, starting today, Audi challenges drivers to join the movement and take the “Driver’s Pledge” for a more intelligent road.”

The initiative debuted on the Primetime Emmy Awards telecast last night with a special mention during Audi’s 30-second spot for the all-new 2012 A6.

By asking you to pledge to be a smarter, safer, more efficient driver, Audi intends to make driving a more rewarding experience allowing drivers everywhere to enjoy the road once more. The “Driver’s Pledge” is part of a larger campaign for the new 2012 Audi A6, calling attention to the deplorable road conditions American drivers face today in hopes of spurring grassroots action. The Audi A6, was recently awarded the IIHS Top Safety Award this year. This car makes 2,000 decisions per second to assist the driver combat the realities of driving today. Included is a thermal imaging camera with Night Vision Assist to highlight pedestrians or large animals it detects in front of the vehicle. The Audi Pre-Sense Plus is a pre-collision safety system that helps to minimize accidents by alerting the driver and pre-charging the brakes with added force in an emergency. Further, a heads-up display projects navigation data in a hologram over the windshield, the A6 is designed to analyze the road, anticipate situations, prepare for incidents – all in the name of enhancing the driving experience.

Other cutting edge technology includes features such as MMI Navigation with Google Earth – combining 3-D terrain models with aerial views and a detailed street network to calculate seamless routes. An MMI touch pad recognizes handwriting in multiple languages while factory-installed wireless internet enables features such as Audi connect for real-time weather, traffic, news and live gas prices. All this helps to make the Audi A6 one of the most intelligent vehicles on the road today.
