Hyundai has recalled 12,428 2019 Velosters to fix a problem with their doors. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the Velosters have a problem with unexpected door openings in crashes that may lead to occupant ejections.

Specifically, the issue involves side impacts. According to the information filed with the safety agency, in a side impact, it is possible that a door latch may fail to allow the door to open suddenly. The point of failure in this sequence is the door latch cable, which may fail.

Automaker To Begin Notifications In June

The automaker plans to begin notifying its owners of the issue in mid-June. At that time, owners can contact their local Hyundai dealer to schedule a free service. The service involves inspection and replacement of the affected door lock assemblies.
