Jeep Wrangler 4xe Wins Best 4x4 in 2022 Women’s World Car of the Year Awards

The group of female jurors from around the world praises the Jeep Wrangler 4xe for its commitment to sustainability.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is winning yet another award. This time the 2022 Women’s World Car of the Year panel has named the Jeep Wrangler 4xe as the Best 4x4.

"With the Wrangler 4xe, the Jeep brand has taken a giant step forward in many ways, but the most important is its commitment to a more sustainable environment,” said Marta García, executive president of WWCOTY. “It is very much appreciated that one of the true SUVs left on the market has opted for hybridisation. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe's commitment to the environment is of decisive value for the Women's World Car of the Year.”

Women’s World Car of the Year

The Women’s World Car of the Year voting group is made up of 56 female automotive journalists from 40 different countries. The vehicles in the WWCOTY awards are judged for “excellence in their segments, based on safety, driving, comfort, technology, design, efficiency, impact on the environment and value for money”. This is the 12th year that the group has given out awards.
“We are delighted that the WWCOTY jurors recognized the great strides that the Jeep brand is making toward electrification of its vehicles around the world, in pursuit of its vision of Zero Emission Freedom,” said Christian Meunier, Jeep brand CEO. “This Women’s World Car award is further confirmation that electrification enhances the core capabilities of our Jeep vehicles. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is a clear example that you can have the best of both worlds: legendary Jeep capability and open-air fun combined with an electrified, eco-friendly package that allows you to enjoy nature in almost absolute silence.”

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe

The 2022 Jeep Wrangler is an engineering marvel because it maintains the Jeeps' incredible off-road capability with an innovative new powertrain. The Wrangler 4xe has 375 horsepower. Many of the owners choose to use the gasoline engine to drive out to the trail and save the electric power for off-roading. The instantaneous torque is optimal for handling the trails. Plus, the vehicle can run almost silently while enjoying the great outdoors!

The Wrangler 4xe’s hybrid powertrain combines a high-tech, 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine with two electric motors and a high-voltage battery pack. The powertrain allows the driver to switch seamlessly from the gas engine to the electric motors and vice versa. The Jeep Wrangler 4xe is EPA rated at 49 miles per gallon-equivalent (MPGe). The Jeep Wrangler 4xe gets an estimated 21 miles of pure electric operation. If the driver commutes less than 21 miles round trip to work, they may rarely, if ever, use the gas engine.

I find it interesting that a vehicle that can only drive 21 miles on its battery can still get the full $7500 tax credit from the US government.
