Video: Can the 2015 Subaru WRX STI break a 28 year old rally record?

Will David Higgins and Craig Drew break a 28 year-old rally record this weekend in the 2015 Subaru WRX STI?

It’s already been a special Rally America race season for Davis Higgins and the 2015 Subaru WRX STI team, and it could be a season that changes the record books. There are seven victories already in the trophy case for SRT USA and there is one more win needed that will make a very special season indeed.

David Higgins and co-driver Craig Drew, are trying to do something no team has accomplished since 1987: win every round in the Rally America National Championship to earn a perfect season. Higgins and Drew have won the first seven events thus far in the 2015 Rally America series and have one more round to run this weekend. The last perfect season in the U.S. was earned by American rallying legend and current Subaru Rally Team USA team manager John Buffum.

It hasn’t been easy to get to this point with no losses, and the Lake Superior Performance Rally this weekend will likely be no different. In auto racing, there are no “easy” victories. The team is running a new car this year, the new 2015 Subaru WRX STI dubbed the VT15r and SRT USA has done a masterful job getting the performance Subaru ready for every race on the Rally America Championship schedule. Can the 2015 Subaru WRX STI break a 28 year old rally record this weekend in Michigan? Stay tuned.
