Ultra-exclusive Icona Vulcano will attempt to entice ultra-rich

The Icona Vulcano that was unveiled in Shanghai will make its UK debut in September and will be ready for ultra-rich buyers to step up and pay the $3.85 million dollar price.

Who would be willing to pay $3.85 million for a new car that is built by an upstart auto brand? That’s what Icona will attempt to do this September when they bring the new Vulcano to London for the ultra-rich to view it at the auto-themed Salon Prive Show. It may be both powerful and beautiful, but it will be a tough sell when you consider other suprcars that can be had for a lot less money.

The new Icona Vulcano will have plenty of competition from the Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari 458 Italia and Lamborghini Gallardo. Although we know there is a market for hypercars, as another independent brand, Koenigsegg just sold the Agera S for $4.3 million to wife of investor Denis Chua in Singapore last month. So the new ultra-exclusive Vulcano may sell for the asking price.

What makes this ultra-expensive sports car so special? Sales Director, David Bagley commented: “Icona is a very exciting new brand and we are delighted that it has chosen Salon Privé for the UK debut of the Vulcano. It’s a beautiful car and it is going to look fantastic within the Concepts & Prototypes Display.” But is beauty enough to get buyers excited about the Vulcano?

This new hypercar that was revealed at the Shanghai Auto Show in April is very much Italian in its makeup. The powertrain is the work of well-known Claudio Lombardi who is the former powertrain technical director of Ferrari and mastermind of numerous world champion cars. And the design language comes from the Icona Fuselage concept which was introduced in 2011 by Samuel Chuffart, Icona's design director.

The Icona Vulcano is a glamorous two-door, two-seat super sports car that is powered a hybrid V12 powerplant that pumps out a massive 950 horsepower. The Vulcano has a top speed of 350 km/h and a staggering acceleration of under 9 seconds for 0-120 mph. That’s faster than most cars can reach 60 mph.

For the ultra-rich, they will get a chance to see the new Icona Vulcano at Salon Prive September 4-6 in London. Will buyers get excited about the new Vulcano? The aim will be to capture the attention of exclusive buyers with its amazing beauty and beastly nature. Our guess is there will be a few who step up and will want the exclusive car because no one else will have one.
