The Subaru Crosstrek Is Smokin’ Hot - Outselling Outback And Forester

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek is the hot model in the lineup for Subaru of America again. The Crosstrek is now outselling the Outback and Forester. See what’s coming for new car shoppers.

The next-generation Subaru Crosstrek is coming soon, but sales of the outgoing model are the hottest in Subaru of America's (SOA) lineup. SOA reported that the hot Crosstrek is the top performer in the all-wheel-drive lineup in August, beating Outback and Forester.

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek continues to sizzle hot this summer, with 15,126 subcompact SUVs delivered to customers in August. That's a 30.5 percent increase over August 2021 sales (11,587). And more new Crosstrek models are coming for small SUV shoppers.

Crosstrek is now the best-selling all-wheel-drive model for SOA, with 99,252 models delivered to customers through the first eight months compared with 89,203 sold in 2021. Crosstrek is now 2,345 model sales ahead of the Outback midsize SUV and 30,101 ahead of the Forester.

The Crosstrek subcompact SUV is still one of the two SUVs with a sales increase in 2022, up 11.3 percent this year. The Ascent 3-Row SUV is the other Subaru SUV up in 2022 (+5.7%).

What sets the Crosstrek apart?

The fuel mileage is one significant reason the Crosstrek is the number one selling model for Subaru of America. Customers are looking for affordability, utility, all-wheel-drive, and fuel efficiency. The Crosstrek offers all four.

Crosstrek gets excellent fuel mileage

The 2.0-liter CVT models achieve EPA-estimated fuel economy of 28/33 city/highway and 30 combined mpg. The 6-speed manual models are rated 22/29 city/highway and 25 combined mpg. The 2.5-liter Boxer engine achieves an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 27/34 city/highway and 29 combined mpg.

Standard all-wheel-drive and X-Mode

The 2022 Subaru Crosstrek subcompact SUV rides higher with extra ground clearance (8.7-inches) than other small SUVs, and all trim levels come standard with Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive.

The Sport and Limited trims also have a new dual-function X-Mode for added off-pavement capabilities. The new system has settings for Snow and Dirt mode to the new Deep Snow/Deep Mud Mode and is best for sand where traction is compromised.

Affordability

Even with a recent price increase, the 2022 Crosstrek is affordable. The base trim is priced from $24,320, Premium ($25,470), Sport ($28,670), Limited ($30,170) and Crosstrek Hybrid ($37,520). Prices include destination and delivery fees that increase ($1,175).

Should customers wait for the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek?

The Crosstrek is a carry-over model with no upgrades except for the 2023 Crosstrek Special Edition trim level. There is no advantage to waiting as all 2023 Subaru Crosstrek trim levels get a $600 price increase, including destination and delivery fees. Dealer fees increased by $50 for 2023 Crosstrek trims.

The 2023 Crosstrek base trim is priced from $24,870, Premium, ($26,020), Special Edition ($27,970), Sport ($29,220), Limited ($30,720) and Crosstrek Hybrid ($38,070). Prices include destination and delivery fees ($1,225).

When will the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek arrive?

The 2023 Crosstrek subcompact SUV will begin arriving at Subaru showrooms this summer. Before the 2023 Crosstrek Special Edition gets here, the 2022 models are the number one selling model in the lineup.

Subaru Corporation will reveal the next-generation 2024 Subaru Crosstrek on September 15. Torque New will have the complete details here. Stay tuned to this page.
