The 2014 Subaru BRZ GT300 is ready to take on cars like the Nissan GT-R, Honda CR-Z GT, BMW Z4 and Lamborghini GT3 tomorrow at Fuji Speedway. This will be the second race of the SUPER GT series and BRZ GT300 has qualified in second place today. So the BRZ race car will start on the first row and has a good chance to win it all tomorrow.

The new 2014 Subaru BRZ GT300 was second with a time of 1:38.034 behind a very fast B-Max NDDP Nissan GT-R with a time of 1:37.841. The temperatures were warm and the track was dry for the qualifying at the Fuji Speedway in Japan. The BRZ team has been conducting tests in March to set the chassis aerodynamics and it looks like they got it right. They have a fast car in a field of 10 cars.

Iguchi Takuto was driving the BRZ GT300 during qualifying and co-driver Kota Sasaki said after the qualifying round, "Iguchi showed a good run, and was able to warm up the tires in order to get the right grip today. He started the qualifying in 11th place but, he attacked the circuit at the end and when the checkered flag was waved, we moved up on the last lap to second place.”

Last month, in the first race, the BRZ GT300 had a disappointing finish. The race car was involved in an accident, could not be repaired and finished in 21st place. The track was hit by bad weather with sleet and rain pounding the circuit early in the morning. Temperatures were cold but there was blue sky when the race started. It went down hill quickly as the BRZ GT300 came in contact with multiple cars on the opening lap.

STI Team manager Tatsumi Eiji, liked what he saw today and thinks the first row start will be a big advantage going into the race. Eiji wasn’t surprised at the fast time and it was exactly what he expected from the BRZ race car. He said, “it’s a damn good time, especially since we are racing against cars with large displacement engines. We are in a good position going into this race.”

The race will take place tomorrow as the 2014 Subaru BRZ GT300 takes on cars like the Nissan GT-R, Honda CR-Z GT, BMW Z4 and Lamborghini GT3 tomorrow at Fuji Speedway. Stay tuned to Torque News as we bring you the race results.
