Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast HT Review - 1100 Mile Subaru Crosstrek Road Trip

What are the best tires for summer road trip season for a subcompact SUV like the Subaru Crosstrek? We test the new Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast HT tire on an 1100-mile road trip. Check out the results here.

What are the best summer tires for a Subaru Crosstrek road trip? So when we were asked to test the all-new Goodyear Wrangler Steadfast HT tire, we said yes because we were ready for a long road trip from Parker, Colorado, to Galveston, Texas.

Driving the 1100 miles from Colorado to the beach at Galveston Island is always an adventure with road construction, heavy rain storms, and countless different road surfaces. So how did the tires perform?

Goodyear says the new Wrangler Steadfast HT is a highway-focused tire and was the ideal test for the long trip. "The Wrangler Steadfast HT tire is Goodyear's strongest-performing highway tire to date, according to the company."

We found the new Wrangler Steadfast HT tire to be perfect on the highway. We topped speeds over 75 mph, and the tires were quiet and exceptionally stable. We encountered heavy rain in central Texas, and the tires had minimal drift and hydroplaning. The tires shed the water and kept us steady at high-speed interstate driving.

The Steadfast HT is a premium all-season tire offering a design that provides solid wet performance and enhanced ride comfort. In addition, Goodyear added DuPont Kevlar in the tread to give puncture and heat resistance. The Kevlar also protects against pothole damage and other hazards.

"When engineering the Wrangler Steadfast HT tire, we wanted to introduce a new level of premium to the highway tire category," said Michiel Kramer, director of Consumer Product Marketing at Goodyear. "Steadfast stands for 'firm in purpose' – and with an innovative tread and sidewall design that offers drivers a long-lasting and comfortable ride, along with enhanced wet traction and Kevlar durability – Wrangler Steadfast HT is built to handle whatever adventure comes their way."

Goodyear offers this overview of the new Wrangler HT's highlights:

-Longest-Lasting Goodyear Highway Tire on the Market: Featuring a long-lasting and balanced tread compound,

-Enhanced Wet Traction & Control: Deeper, wider grooves in the tread design provide extraordinary wet traction and control.

-Made with DuPont Kevlar: DuPont Kevlar in the tire tread offers dependable durability and longevity.

-Built-in Wear Gauge: A built-in Wear Gauge gives drivers easy tread-depth readings.

-Wide Range of Sizing Availability: Wrangler Steadfast HT is available in 22 sizes and compatible with today's most popular SUVs, Crossovers, pickups, minivans, and sedans.

We found the Wrangler Steadfast HT perfectly suitable for the unpaved sandy roads, and we felt confident driving on the deep sand on the beach. They are a good choice for a Subaru Crosstrek designed for off-road excursions or other small SUVs for summer and severe wet weather driving.
