The 9 Best Cars For Winter - Inset Any New Subaru Model Here But One

What are the best new cars, SUVs, and trucks for winter driving? The new list could include the 2022 Forester, Outback, Crosstrek, or Ascent SUVs. See which model is the best for winter 2022.

Winter is here, and many people will be driving home and trekking to the ski resorts for the Holidays. Which new cars, SUVs, and trucks are the best for winter driving this year? A new report from CarBuzz says the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness is among the best nine models you can buy now.

The nine best new cars for winter 2022 include the Subaru Outback Wilderness, ranked number one. It is followed by the Hyundai Santa Cruz Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) compact pickup, Ford Bronco Sport SUV, Audi A4 allroad wagon, Volvo V60 Cross Country wagon, Honda Ridgeline midsize pickup, Land Rover Discovery SUV, Nissan Pathfinder SUV, and Mini Cooper Countryman crossover.

Interestingly, so many wagons are on the best winter vehicles list. The 2022 Subaru Outback is the SUV-alternative vehicle. The all-new Wilderness trim level takes the capable Outback to another level of winter capability.

CarBuzz says, "If you live in the mountains and need extra ground clearance, agility, and toughness, there's a better tool for the job. The Outback Wilderness comes with upgraded suspension, a front skid plate, all-terrain Geolander tires, an engine making 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, and, most importantly, Subaru's revised Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with the X-Mode off-road drive mode.

What are the best all-wheel-drive models for snow and ice?

The new list could include the 2022 Forester, Crosstrek, Ascent SUVs, Impreza compact sedan and hatchback, and Legacy sedan. CarBuzz says you could add any Subaru all-wheel-drive model to the best cars for winter 2022 list.

They say, "In reality, you could insert any Subaru here as they all come with the Japanese automaker's symmetrical all-wheel-drive system that has proved itself time and time again over the decades. If you want a sedan, the Impreza will do the job on slippery roads. If you want to go faster and have fun, the WRX is a given, and for compact SUV goodness, there's the excellent Forester."

Another new model, the 2023 Subaru Solterra all-electric compact SUV, will be a vehicle coming mid-2022 that will be a good choice for winter driving. The Solterra also comes with Subaru's Symmetrical all-wheel-drive and X-Mode for improved all-weather performance.

There is one new Subaru model you would not put on the list. The 2022 BRZ is the only Subaru that does not come with all-wheel-drive. The sports coupe is a true sports car with rear-wheel drive for driving enthusiasts.

What is the price of the 2022 Subaru Outback Wilderness?

The Outback Wilderness is priced from $38,120, including destination and delivery fees.
