4 Ways New Subaru Crosstrek Checks the Box on Global Safety

The 2018 Subaru Crosstrek gets more global safety awards. Is the new Crosstrek the safest compact crossover?

Subaru has a goal to be the overall global safety leader and the new 2018 Crosstrek checks all the right boxes. The new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek (XV in global markets) received the Grand Prix "At the Wheel" award as the safest car in Russia. For the 23rd time, Grand Prix’s readers and editors of the magazine chose the best cars in different categories and Subaru XV wins the special nomination "Contribution to Security".

Based on the test results of the magazine, the EyeSight driver assistance system installed on the all-new Crosstrek is recognized as “one of the smartest and most useful auto-inhibition systems, and in this price segment, it is recognized as the best” according to Grand Prix.

The all-new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek equipped with EyeSight driver assist system features four sperate systems making it the top safety technology. It comes with Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Keep Assist and Sway Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Other automakers have safety systems, Honda has Sensing technology while Nissan has ProPilot, just to name a few. What sets Subaru's EyeSight apart is in the Japanese automaker’s approach to achieving the capability of preventing auto accidents. EyeSight acts like a second set of “eyes” using two cameras that flank the rearview mirrors, giving the system its vision ahead detecting any potential dangers. This location also keeps the camera eyes free from debris like ice and snow.

Think of it like having a driving instructor along with you, not being intrusive, but there for you if your attention is taken away from the road or if you are distracted while driving. The system will not hesitate to step in if it's really necessary to prevent a crash or, at the very least, reduce the actual impact. In any price range, Subaru’s EyeSight could be the best. Subaru’s goal of being the automotive safety leader is being achieved globally.

In the category of “Best Compact Crossover" the new 2018 Subaru Crosstrek also took home second place among seven nominees in the Grand Prix nominations.
