2 Teslas set on fire in Amsterdam within a few hundred feet by Tesla haters

Two Teslas burned down at the Vondelstraat district in Amsterdam last night. The police assume that it was an arson. Looks like those were Model S vehicles.

One of the owners of the Teslas said that he had camera images showing the arsonists, he told Dutch AT5. Apparently these are people who are either against electric car progress or Tesla haters.

Strikingly these Tesla cars were parked only few hundred feet apart from one another. This feeds the idea that this is a targeted action for these Tesla owners. "I do not think that's a coincidence. it's an expensive car. They want to teach us a lesson. It is clearly focused Tesla's," told one of the owners to AT5 media.

According to the owners of these Teslas, the car fire took place around 4.30 am. "My wife woke me up, the alarm of the car went off," says an owner to a local station. "Because of the smoke and the smell it was soon clear that it was arson."

The police have started an investigation into the arson. A third car has also been damaged by the fire. It was not revealed what types of Teslas they were, but judging from the images those were Model S vehicles.

I can't believe this is happening in the 21st century. Do you think someone can be so much against a car company to burn them on the streets? Please let us know what you make of this in the comments section below.

Sounds more like hooligans burning cars for fun. During my tour of england, that was a sport for many thugs. If you left your car anywhere that was even a little out of sight, they'd torch it.

Here in the United States it’s legitimate fear. About a week ago somebody posted at a tesla supercharging site, three big SUVs parked in the spots. I have this niggling fear that if he would’ve parked there between the two trucks to charge, one of the owners would’ve vandalized it upon seeing it. My guess is that they just hate an expensive car that doesn’t take gas, yet with their $80 fill ups of gasoline they feel justified in doing it.
