For the second time in the last two years, Ford has won two major NACTOY awards. NACTOY stands for the North American Car/Truck of the Year Awards. It is a program that began months ago as the first vehicles were vetted for the program. As the months have gone on, a jury of 50 automotive veterans have put and pushed each vehicle through its paces to find the winners.

In looking over Ford's 2021 sales wrapup, the automaker enthusiastically looked toward 2022 and saw its electrified vehicle models taking off.

Although the Ford Bronco Four-Door -- full-sized -- is one of the success stories of the auto year, one area where it has not lived up to the successful story line is in the ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety where issues with the head restraints and headlights kept the popular model from earning an IIHS award.

Following successfully recycling plastic water bottles into key parts on the 2020 Escape, Ford is now helping to cut the flow of plastic into the ocean by using plastic materials harvested from the "Great Pacific Garbage Patch" as wiring clips for the Bronco Sport.

At last, the committee running the North American Car and Truck Awards program has its finalists. In a surprise, Ford has two entrants. The entries are not where you think they might be -- electric. Instead, Ford's "back to the future" retro SUV, the Bronco, is one vehicle, while the automaker's innovative compact pickup, the Maverick, is the second. If you remember last year's rendition of the Baja 1000, there was a specially designed Ford Bronco running in it. Very retro, the Bronco R did well in the race -- unlike the year before when breakdowns hindered it. Now, Ford is offering a limited-edition model to those who can afford the $200,000 price tag. The Bronco DR (Desert Racer) is ready to step up to the starting line and run with the big dogs.

Ford's display at this year's SEMA Show, kicking off tomorrow, will feature a huge range of customizations. It not only features its own online offerings, but, it also shows the wares that have been created by customizers that will highlight offerings for customers.

When the SEMA Show kicks off on Monday visitors will see more than 40 must-have creations that will highlight Ford's many accessories for its cars and trucks.

Every year, automakers unveil their conceptual thinking as they show their concept wares. Ford, for example, will display six specially designed Broncos that show not only the Bronco Brand, which is making its debut, and the accessories that customers can use customized and make their Broncos super-special.

Ford has announced a wide range of price increases for its 2022 Ford Bronco Sport. The bump ranges from $50 for a basic Bronco Sport to much more for the top-end Badlands trim.

Ford had a super sales month in September. Propelled by rising inventories and a slew of new products, Ford came out as the top-selling automaker last month.

It wasn't a good week for Ford as the automaker acknowledged that it would have to delay the delivery of many Broncos due to problems with the molded roofs. Some Broncos may be bumped from model year 2021 to 2022.

With chip shortages and other production issues, as expected, Ford’s retails sales are down 37% compared to July 2020. EV sales, led by Mustang Mach-E continue to grow incrementally for Ford as they also see brisk advance orders for Ford Maverick and F-150 Lightning. Bronco and Bronco Sport lead the way for Ford heading into remaining part of 2021.
