Plane crashes into car on Alabama highway

It’s hard for even the most conscientious driver to avoid an incident like this. About 1 p.m. yesterday, a Cessna 182 needed to make an emergency landing on Highway 14 in Alabama after suddenly losing power.

The small plane was only 12 miles from the Auburn Airport in Lee County when it landed on the highway, colliding with a late-model Ford Focus sedan.

“The aircraft landed on 14 near 9802 Auburn Road,” said Sgt. Steve Jarrett, a spokesman for the Alabama State Patrol.

One passenger in the auto had minor injuries, but all three occupants of the plane, including the pilot, were uninjured.

“The road was closed for at least four hours as the aircraft’s wings were removed before being towed away on a flatbed wrecker,” read the story by Scott Johnson posted on MontgomeryAdvertiser.com.
