2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L is Getting Technology Upgrades

Jeep is determined to make sure the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L leads its segment with all of the latest technology. See the upgrades that are new for 2022.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L just debuted last summer but Jeep is already adding even more premium technology to the three-row family vehicle. New for 2022, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L is adding a front passenger interactive screen and larger rear seat interactive screens so that everyone can watch what they want. This means that the Grand Cherokee L will have the same advanced technology that debuted on the 2022 Grand Cherokee, increasing connectivity and access to entertainment.

2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The Grand Cherokee L is really upping the ante when it comes to the family SUV. The new three-row Grand Cherokee will have the most available technology in its class. The Grand Cherokee L will have more than 50 inches of total digital screen space. One of the most fascinating new upgrades is that the front seat passenger will have his/her own 10.25-inch interactive display screen. That means that the passenger can watch something or can have access to his phone or navigation on the screen, independent of what the driver has on his/her screen. The passenger screen will also have an HDMI plug to project wireless device content onto the screen and through the Uconnect 5 system.

The rear seats will each have 10.1-inch rear seat entertainment displays with built-in Amazon Fire TV. They will also have an HDMI plug to project wireless device content onto the screen and through the Uconnect 5 system. That means that the passengers can download different recorded shows or music directly to their individual screens. The passengers can also use Amazon Fire TV to stream videos, play games, listen to music, or watch downloaded content all while on the road. The rear passengers can either watch the same thing or they can watch content independent of the other person.

“The all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee L broke new boundaries and turned heads when it debuted, with its first-ever three rows of seating paired with legendary Jeep 4x4 capability, as well as for its stunning interior and next-generation technologies,” said Jim Morrison, Vice President and Head of Jeep brand – North America. “For the 2022 model year, the Grand Cherokee L gets content that we have already announced on the new Grand Cherokee, packing the 2022 model year with new premium features that take the first ever three-row Grand Cherokee to another level, including a class-leading digital screen space to keep the entire family safe and connected on all of their adventures.”

How the Additional Connectivity May Help

While most people think of the system as being great to entertain children during a long drive. I see great potential for the front passenger (or even a rear seat passenger) to help the driver. The passenger could route the navigation system through their own screen and help by giving the driver directions. They could also seek out the nearest gas station, fast food or hotel if need be. During a snow storm, the passenger could be monitoring the weather conditions, exterior cameras or traffic information to help with navigation. The possibilities to help the driver are endless. Especially, if the rear screens are keeping other passengers entertained during what could be a harrowing drive.

Other New Features for the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L will be available in three new exterior colors. The new colors are Ember, Hydro Blue and Midnight Sky.

Jeep is also adding two new trim levels with exterior accents. The new Limited Black and Summit High Altitude packages add larger Gloss Black aluminum wheels and Gloss Black exterior accents and badging, roof rails and a different seven-slot grille.

Ordering is now open for both the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee L (three-row) and the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee (two-row) through Jeep brand dealerships.
