Driving School in Shanghai Driving School Starts Offering Driving Lessons To New Tesla Owners

There have reportedly been some ads being put around Shanghai advertising a Tesla driving school. This is a program that will help buyers who recently bought their Tesla learn how to operate the multitude of features inside the car.

This isn’t Tesla’s first go around with driving instruction. Tesla set up a ‘driving school’ of sorts in China during the first half of 2019. Tesla owners were invited to this driving school to learn how to get the most out of their cars. Tesla used this ‘driving school’ mainly as a way to promote their product in China. Based on the description, it seems owners were invited and didn’t have to pay for admission. However, it is not entirely clear whether owners had to pay or not.

The recent driving school ad

This recent ad below appears to be for a real driving school whereas the last ‘driving school’ was in more of an event format. This driving school is offering 10 hour-long lessons for 2,000¥. This translates to around $310 in US currency. These lessons are targeted towards new Tesla owners who want to get a better understanding of how to make the most out of Tesla’s advanced technology.

What drivers will be learning

Modern automobiles have become so technologically advanced that buyers will often receive a lengthy tutorial at the dealership to show them how to operate the infotainment system. Things are being taken a step further with Tesla because Tesla has a lot of technology that doesn’t exist in that many other cars.

Autopilot - Drivers will be learning how to use Tesla’s autopilot. Elon Musk wants to make FSD Beta much more widespread. Tesla’s cars are not quite fully autonomous, but the latest FSD Beta puts a Tesla very close to being fully autonomous. It is helpful for new owners to know how to engage autopilot, and what to watch out for when using it.

Launch mode -Tesla vehicles do have a launch mode which can be used on the drag strip, or just for driving on the road. The brake and the gas must be pushed in such a way in order to enable launch mode.

One pedal driving - Some drivers find one pedal driving to be annoying. One pedal driving means less wear on the brakes on the car. The goal is for the driver to not use the brake. Easing off the gas will help slow the car down. The most important thing to remember is to not let off the gas abruptly. It requires precise timing to make the car come to a complete stop. It takes practice particularly on a car that is unfamiliar.

Plans to expand these driving schools

Plans to expand the idea of a Tesla driving school into more countries and cities have not been reported as of yet. If the demand for this service is there, then plans to expand should follow. A driving school service should become a small charge that comes with the purchase of the vehicle.
