North America Keeps WRX/STI Production Lines Humming

The 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI are the hottest-sellers in North America. Can Subaru keep the momentum going?

The 2016 Subaru WRX and WRX STI performance sedans keep production lines humming for Fuji Heavy Industries, parent company of Subaru. The Japanese automaker shipped more WRX and WRX STIs from Japan to North American than any other global market.

Both WRX and WRX STI had another record month in April in the U.S. and Canada. The brand continues to attract new performance enthusiasts as the sports sedans remain popular in North America and around the globe. The U.S. is Subaru’s largest market where they sell more STIs than any other country.

Hot in the US

In the U.S., April marked the 26th consecutive month of 40,000+ vehicle sales for the Subaru brand. The 2016 Subaru Crosstrek crossover, Forester SUV, Outback wagon and WRX/STI performance car sales were notably strong as each carline achieved its best April ever. WRX and WRX STI led the percentage of sales increase for the entire lineup with a jump of 14.1 percent over the previous April.

Hotter in Canada

In Canada, Subaru’s performance sedans are even hotter in percentage of sales increase over last year. Canadian performance enthusiasts are snatching up the performance cars in record numbers. The WRX and WRX STI reveled in new monthly records with an incredible increase of 53.5 percent and their highest monthly sales ever.

It looks like there’s no stopping the performance sedans as they keep setting new sales records every month in North America. The new 2017 models will be coming with five new features. With the new upgrades, the 2017 Subaru WRX and WRX STI should stay hot and keep the momentum going when they arrive this summer.
