2015 WRX and WRX STI comes with exclusive “racing technology” feature

Dunlop has announced that the new 2015 Subaru WRX and 2015 WRX STI performance sport sedans will roll exclusively on Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tires.

The all-new 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI performance sedans are just about ready to make their market launch and they’ll be shod exclusively with one brand of tire. Dunlop tires has just announced the two sports sedans will roll into Subaru showrooms exclusively on Dunlop Sport Maxx RT tires.

Sport Maxx RT stands for “racing technology,” and the tires were developed to deliver enhanced performance on the street through the integration of “race-inspired” design elements. The new Dunlop tires feature an adaptive tread compound that helps deliver better grip on pavement and improved braking performance.

They come with massive outer shoulder blocks that promotes increased stability and handling in the corners. The power braking blocks will help enhance stopping power for shorter braking distance at high speeds. And the lower-weight construction lowers rolling resistance for better performance.

The 2015 WRX/STI performance models will need all the grip they can get. as they are Rally-bred and built for high performance driving enthusiasts. “With the Sport Maxx RT, we’ve incorporated technologies developed from Dunlop’s racing program for both exceptional grip and braking performance,” said Tara Foote, Dunlop brand manager. “Subaru’s choice of the Sport Maxx RT for its flagship high-performance vehicles is further evidence of this performance.”

The new Dunlop Sport Maxx RTs will be needed. For 2015, the Subaru WRX and 2015 WRX STI get upgrades to the suspension and chassis. The new-generation WRX/STI features a new torque-vectoring system that supplements the standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. The Torque vectoring should improve cornering speeds and handling in the curves. WRX also comes with a new and stiffer chassis, larger brakes, and performance-tuned suspension.

Combined with a new Electronic Power Steering system, specially tuned suspension and Dunlop SP Sport Maxx RT tires, the 2015 Subaru WRX and WRX STI should yield steering response that was benchmarked against the Porsche 911. The 2015 Subaru WRX will be shod with 235/45R17 size tires. The WRX STI will come equipped with 18-inch wheels and 245/40R18 Sport Maxx RT tires. These “racing technology,” tires were developed specifically to deliver enhanced performance for rally-bred cars like the WRX and WRX STI.
