Four Republican lawmakers, citing concern over vehicle hacking, have asked the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to launch a major effort to thwart potential auto hacking threats.

FCA, Honda American and Land Rover NA will all be recalling vehicles to address a wiring issue with the 9-speed ZF automatic transmission after the transmission supplier itself announced a recall of a component in some 505,000 vehicles.

Hyundai joins General Motors, Kia and Fiat Chrysler in ARC probe, while Takata recall affects 31 makes.

The first list of vehicles for Forza Horizon 3 has been announced and there are some Mopar heavy hitters on that list, including the Hellcat Challenger, the Hellcat Charger, several different Vipers and a couple of classic Mopar muscle cars – along with a few Jeeps, a pair of Fiats and a Chrysler 300 SRT.

In May 2016, the Chrysler Group posted its 74th consecutive month of year over year gains, with major contributions from the Jeep lineup, the Dodge Challenger, the Chrysler 300, the Dodge Charger and all three of the company’s existing minivans.

After Sergio Marchionne made a comment that the next generation Chrysler 300 sedan could be built alongside the new Chrysler Pacifica minivan, it seems possible the next 300 could be built on a front wheel drive chassis with a heavy emphasis on all wheel drive versions – allowing the company to better differentiate the 300 and the Dodge Charger.

April 2016 marked the 73rd consecutive month of year over year sales growth for the Chrysler Group brands and while the 4th best month ever for the Dodge Challenger may have been a highlight – the success of the company in April was due largely to the trucks, SUVs and minivans.

The Chrysler Group has issued a recall of the Dodge Charger, the Chrysler 300 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee for no other reason than the owners being unable to recognize whether the vehicle is in Park due to the unusual shifters featured in those vehicles.

When the announcement was made to discontinue the SRT brand, it was reported by some that the 2015 Chrysler 300C would not get an SRT variant like the 2015 Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger, but a new report from Allpar suggests that the highest performance Chrysler sedan will live on into the 2015 model year – just without the Hellcat Hemi.

This past weekend brought us the 7th annual Moparpalooza all-Chrysler car show in the DC area and with cooperation with the folks from the Chrysler Group, Moparpalooza 2014 helped to raise a whopping $50,000 for charity.

The news surfaced last week that the Chrysler Group’s SRT division was being consolidated into the Dodge brand and with that came the news that the high performance SRT variant of the Chrysler 300C would be discontinued – a move that will most certainly sadden Mopar fans, but it won’t have much negative impact on the company going forward.

Not exactly known for electric vehicles, Chrysler plans to produce not one but two plug-in hybrids as part of their five-year plan revealed yesterday. It is a move driven primarily by regulations.
