Talk about testing a price gap. It was just a few days ago that Toyota Motor (ADR: TM) showed signs of a breakout past overhead resistance on the weekly chart, which some believe was based on the 2012 Camry news. Then it filled the early May price gap 84.76 to 84.28 on the weekly chart with a Friday high of 84.90, but fell back.

Toyota continues to ramp up new car and truck production for North America and expects to go from 80% of pre-earthquake and tsunami levels in August to full strength by September. Eight of the Japanese carmaker's 12 models for sale in the U.S. and Canada have been at 100% production levels since last month.

Toyota has made a $1 million commitment to support the expansion of Buckle Up for Life, which began in Ohio, Kentucky and California and now will expand to Illinois, Colorado and Texas by the end of 2012, with even more places to be chosen for assistance in 2013.

Toyota is making plans to share its efficiencies expertise for free in 2011 to give a helping hand to 20 schools, hospitals and nonprofit organizations. For the third consecutive year the ubiquitous Toyota Camry has taken the title of Most American Car despite new competition entering the race. The Toyota sedan is built in Georgetown, KY and Lafayette, IN and has fended off challenges for the honor by newcomers including the Ford Explorer, the Chevrolet Traverse and the GMC Acadia. It is closely followed by the Honda Accord and the Chevy Malibu, which take second and third respectively.
