Freshly released Chrysler documents have offered some vague information on the future of the Dodge brand lineup including two new models and 4 refreshed versions of vehicles currently in production – one of which will be the next generation Dodge Challenger.

Based on an official yet vague company document released today, it appears as though the new SRT Viper will receive a refresh in 2015 while the high performance Dodge Dart SRT looks like it might not arrive until 2016 at the earliest.

While the 2013 SRT Viper is the only American performance car that is actually built in Detroit, the 2013 North American International Auto Show brought about the first appearance of the newest Viper to the Detroit Auto Show – with two of the gorgeous American supercars there in both GTS and GTS-R form.

Today at the Chrysler Group’s Connor Avenue Assembly Plant in Detroit, the company held a celebration to official introduce 2013 SRT Viper GTS VIN #001 to the lucky owner – with the future owner of the first SRT branded supercar joined by the built team, SRT boss Ralph Gilles and company CEO Sergio Marchionne.

The 2013 SRT Viper might not be reaching the hands of happy new owners until next month but that didn’t stop Edmunds from taking a preproduction Viper GTS to the dyno to see what the newest Mopar supercar puts out at the wheels – with the results being 558 horsepower and 528lb-ft of torque at the rear wheels.

While it did not come with the amount of publicity and fanfare that we have come to expect when a new model begins production, the 2013 SRT Viper assembly began building new Mopar supercars earlier this month with the first units expected to reach consumers sometime in February 2013 – only after the initial production units are meticulously inspected to ensure the highest level of quality.

The folks at Motor Trend recently took the 2013 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and the 2013 SRT Viper GTS to Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway with the bowtie-clad supercar coming away the winner – but it comes with a bit of controversy due to their driver choice according to the people at Chrysler.

The production launch of the 2013 SRT Viper is getting very close and today, the Chrysler Group offered up more information (and new pictures) of their new supercar including an incredible top speed of 206 miles per hour – making the 2013 Viper the fastest normal production car from an American automaker, ever.

The sales numbers are in for October 2012 and once again, the Chrysler Group is the strongest of the American automakers and third from the top among major auto groups – trailing only Toyota Motor Company and the BMW Group.

Comedian and ventriloquist Jeff Dunham is currently working on a project with the folks from Chrysler’s Mopar division to customize a 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with a series of YouTube videos chronicling the build – and the debut of this unique Challenger named Project Ultraviolet is set for the 2012 SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Mopar had an event this morning to show off a few of the modified vehicles that will line the massive display at the upcoming 2012 SEMA Show but among the most interesting vehicles was only shown in pictures with the introduction of the Moparized 2013 SRT Viper.

Early this morning, the first playable demo for the new (highly anticipated) racing simulator Forza Horizon arrived in the Xbox Live Marketplace, offering gamers their first experience racing in the open world, at night and on dirt in a Forza series game with the first drivable cars being the 2013 SRT Viper GTS and the Mitsubishi Evolution X.

The debut of the long awaited open road driving simulator Forza Horizon is still three weeks away but the folks at Turn 10 announced today that the first playable demo of Forza Horizon will be available in the Xbox Live Marketplace next Tuesday (October 9th) – offering gamers their first chance to experience the game that is expected to set the new standard for driving simulators.
