Cadillac

Cadillac is the luxury arm of General Motors and over the past few years, this premium brand has returned to glory as one of the best luxury brands in the world. New models like the ELR and ATS have helped to bring new interest to the brand from new segments while the new XTS and redesigned CTS allow Cadillac to be a top competitor throughout the US market.

A big SUEV like a Cadillac Escalade EV would sell really well under the Cadillac banner, but just like Tesla's Maxwell battery initiative, GM also needs to come up with some revolutionary EV battery initiative of their own to get head of competition. Producing an affordable EV battery will be a decisive factor in taking electric cars to the next generation.

ANALYSIS AND OPINION: It’s not looking too good in the public relations arena for Cadillac and GM when the national, now world conversation nows turns toward questioning the existence of luxury car brands after the Cadillac XT6-Gate GM Debacle. Aston Martin’s CEO weighed in with the XT6-Gate to establish six ultra brands, and none of the ones below it like Cadillac will surpass them. But let’s be clear: XT6-Gate is an American problem, not a European one.

ANALYSIS AND OPINION: While GM didn’t strike an iceberg like Titanic with the recent Cadillac XT6-Gate Roll Out, XT6’s Super Cruise “Radio Delete” from the options list Gaffe, and Caddy’s the ”Lead Brand” Announcement Kerfuffle with no Caddy BEV for three years, it certainly ran into the reefs too quickly like the Costa Concordia. Although it isn’t a massive blockbusting disaster, it is a serious debacle that needs some changes. And they better do it soon.

ANALYSIS AND OPINION: GM President Mark Reuss’ recent announcement of putting Cadillac as the lead brand against Tesla helped everything else but Cadillac. Cadillac just put their third gas CUV into their portfolio right after this announcement! A real all electric car company doesn’t do that! To be taken seriously by anyone you have to be reliable and believable, and that means having honesty, and to be honest, starting with yourself, you have to believe in yourself. Who’s fooling who?

A new report with input from General Motors has stated that the mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette will not make its grand debut at next month’s 2019 North American International Auto Show in Detroit – meaning that we will all be waiting even longer for what could be the next generation of the legendary American sports car.

After announcing earlier this week that the Detroit Hamtramck plant where the Cadillac CT6 is built would be “unallocated” sometime next year, the company has confirmed that the CT6 will be discontinued after 2019, but before it races off into the sunset, the twin turbo V8-powered CT6-V will reach showrooms.

It was around this time twenty years ago that the now legendary Cadillac Escalade started hauling the ruling class and celebritydom on the streets of the big American cities as if they were elegant stage coaches of the Victorian or Edwardian Eras over 100 years ago. So after reading a story about the disastrous 2009 hybrid I decided to do a flashback ode to the iconic 20th century truck that lives on today.

SHOCKING!! It seems Cadillac and electricity mix like oil and water. Never mind the gas versions are crap, plagued with electrical problems, they can’t even make reliable ones that partly run on electricity either! While GM’s CEO Mary Barra has a “zero crashes, zero emissions and zero congestion” ten year plan for GM’s future, Cadillac certainly isn’t helping with the failures they’ve had with each electric they tried to sell. CT6 was strike 3. Here’s why and what they can do about it:

The President of the United States took delivery in New York City recently of the first of twelve “one-off” handbuilt vehicles which will routinely switch off to be designated the US Presidential State Car, Cadillac One, “the Beast.” Expected to be delivered for his inauguration two years ago, no explanation for why it was apparently late. But with no noteable Secret Service action required lately, its absence wasn’t apparently missed.
