Fisker Automotive's long awaited new car, the Fisker Atlantic, was revealed today on the eve of the New York Auto Show, continuing the company's tradition of extended range electric luxury cars it is a family-oriented car meant to be compared with the Audi A5 or BMW 3-series.

Last week, we brought you the news that the Fisker Karma being tested by the people at Consumer Reports ran into mechanical issues during the routine initial stages of testing, forcing the group to send their new electric luxury car back to the dealership for repairs but they have their Karma back this week – with a brief explanation of what went wrong.

Things are ramping up for Fisker Automotive, as the production version of their Fisker Karma is reaching buyers around the world with more vehicles are expected to join the Karma in the company’s lineup and today came the first major management change as former Chrysler CEO Tom LaSorda has been hired to fill the roles of CEO and Vice Chairman of the Board for Fisker Automotive.

The Fisker Surf Shooting Brake Concept is a 5-door sport wagon based on the basic design (and powered by the drivetrain) of the incredible Fisker Karma sedan and according to GTSpirit.com, the extended range electric Surf Shooting Brake will make its debut in production form at the upcoming Paris Motor Show in September.

Henrik Fisker says production of the Fisker Karma is not dependent on Dept of Energy loans, and that the company is pursuing a "plan B" to fund the company independently from private investors to prevent the company from being a political football.

A123, the company that supplies the battery packs for the gorgeous new Fisker Karma recently discovered a possible coolant leak that could lead to electrical fires in the high tech sedan and today, Fisker issued a statement claiming that the majority of Karma electric sedans built thus far have had new battery packs installed through the new recall – just two weeks after the automaker was made aware of the problem.
